The Death

Reference: Subject Clearing Beingness

In death, the beingness ceases to be itself. It no longer functions as it is supposed to.

.

Definition of DEATH

Death is a sudden change in beingness. For example, ice can be said to suffer death when it melts into water. When a living organism suffers death, it reduces to an inanimate system of organic substances that gradually disintegrate into more basic elements.

In humans, death occurs when its mind-body system ceases to be operational. However, the human self is so sophisticated that it takes time before it ceases completely. The body is capable of growing hair and nails for some time after death. The disembodied observer may also persist for some time.

The disembodied observer is called the soul, and it is said to survive the death of the body. But, upon death, the awareness of the soul, like that of the body, ceases gradually. The human self disintegrates, ultimately, into more basic elements.

The disintegrated elements—both organic molecules and the thought patterns—appear to get recycled in the formation of new beingnesses. There is a lot here that is yet to be discovered, but this explains the phenomena of genetic influences and “past life” memories.

Misconceptions

1. It is a misconception to think that body and mind get separated upon death. When death occurs, the mind-body system dies and disintegrates together as one.

2. It is a misconception to think that the spirit exists separate from the body-mind system, and it leaves the body upon death. After a person dies, there is a dead mind-body system left that has its own spirit.

3. It is a misconception to think that the soul does not cease after death but remains alive, and can make choices as to its future. This is a hypothesis only.

4. It is a misconception to think that this soul is the individual that is eternal. Again this is a hypothesis, which is being represented as a “fact.”

5. Death and birth are natural events that are necessary for the evolution of beingness. The events between death and birth are concerned with the reconfiguration of beingness based on the experiences of lifetimes. There are laws of nature that govern the activities of death, evolution and birth.

The Spirit (old)

Please see Postulate Mechanics.

The spirit is the aliveness of a person that disappears upon death. It has a connotation of being something supernatural. This concept has been in the domain of religion. It has not been approached scientifically.

.

Definition of SPIRIT

The spirit is associated with the aliveness of a person. The person is essentially a body-mind system. This system is quite energetic when the person is alive. Upon death, the body-mind system disintegrates into a latent thought pattern (a soul). It no longer possesses the spirit.

The spirit, thus, represents all the aspects of aliveness, such as, the ability to sense, postulate and give meaning to the universe. When the spirit leaves, these abilities go dormant. The spirit enters back into a baby body and these abilities become alive again. The spirit has to do with the awareness of the person.

The universal spirit is represented by all the activities that are occurring in the universe. The universe is very much alive. We are studying this spirit through religion, philosophy and science and that becomes our knowledge. The basic spirit of the universe is oneness.

That spirit of oneness applies to our body-mind system too. All the functions of our body-mind system are delicately balanced. They require little attention when they operate in conjunction with the natural environment.

When this spirit of oneness is fully understood, all identifications with the universe start to dissolve. The individuality transforms into the oneness of family, group, society, culture, mankind, and all life. Finally, the oneness of the universe manifests as the natural Self.

.

Notes

The spirit is the aliveness of the body-mind system. In that sense it is one with the body and mind and not separate. After a person dies the spirit is gone, and the body-mind system reduces to a thought pattern that has its own space. When a body is born the spirit activate its thought pattern.

Different religions have different theories about the spirit and its relationship to the phenomena of death and birth. Christianity postulates that spirit survives in a soul after death. This soul then goes either to heaven or to hell. Such theories must be examined for correct interpretation by applying the principle of Oneness.

.

Key Misconception

It is a key misconception to think of spirit as an entity. The soul is an entity but not the spirit. The spirit is the aliveness of an entity.

The Evolution

Reference: Subject Clearing Beingness

When we identity our beingness with our awareness, then our beingness is the awareness of the whole universe. It is the awareness of the meaning we give to every beingnesses in this universe. Evolution is the concatenation of these beingnesses in our awareness.

.

Definition of EVOLUTION

Evolution is the concatenation of all the beingnesses in this universe that we are giving meaning to. Thus, there are beingnesses from inanimate to animate, unicellular to multicellular, and from plant to animal kingdoms. All these beingnesses form our awareness. This awareness is evolving continually toward a greater assimilation, or oneness.

Evolution, naturally, means that new beingnesses  come about and replace old beingnesses. Therefore, death and birth are naturally recurring events. This all is happening in our awareness, which identifies itself naturally with the whole universe. But as our awareness starts to identify itself strongly with a beingness to the exclusion of other beingnesses in this universe, it gets enmeshed in the cycle of death and rebirth.

Our natural beingness is the awareness of the whole universe, which is evolving continually.

.

Misconceptions

1. Death and birth are natural events that recur during the cycle of evolution. There may be missing information between the events of death and birth; but that anomaly can be resolved. Upon death all beingnesses must dissolve into some intermediate stage, from which new beingness is reconfigured that uses the experience of previous beingnesses.
