The purpose of Subject Clearing is to simplify the understanding of a subject by reducing it to its basic concepts and then expressing those concepts through a glossary of Key Words with precise definitions. Once this is accomplished, the subject can then be studied in detail with much better understanding, and applied with much greater sense of oneness. Any definitions that do not appear here, check them in:

As we clear these definitions we maintain a sense of oneness  with the fundamentals that come to us through the ancient Vedas and Buddhism. This is a work in progress. This glossary is being updated every day in real time.

ABERRATION
The word ABERRATION comes from the Latin, aberrare, to wander from; Latin, ab, away, errare, to wander. It means basically to err, to make mistakes, or more specifically to have fixed ideas which are not true. Aberrated conduct would be wrong conduct, or conduct not supported by reason. In Scientology, aberration is a departure from rational thought or behavior. In Dianetics, aberration includes psychoses, neuroses, compulsions and repressions of all kinds and classifications.

Aberration is a departure from rational thought or behavior. From the Latin, aberrare, to wander from; Latin, ab, away, errare, to wander. It means basically to err, to make mistakes, or more specifically to have fixed ideas which are not true. Aberrated conduct would be wrong conduct, or conduct not supported by reason. In general, aberration is a violation of the Principle of Oneness that is seen as anomalies.

Aberration comes about when mind’s ability to recognize anomalies and resolve them is compromised.

ABLITY
Origin: “to have, hold.” To have necessary power, skill, resources, or qualifications.

ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS
Please see PM: Glossary.

ABSOLUTE
Origin: “free, unrestricted, unconditioned.” Absolute means free from imperfection, restriction or limitation. The presence of unknowable means that  nothing is absolute in this universe. Everything is relative, conditioned and impermanent. There is no unchanging, everlasting, absolute substance like Self, Soul, or Ātman within or without. To think that you will live forever as a being is an anomaly.

Absolute means free from imperfection, restriction or limitation. This universe is postulated, where the postulates are subject to the principle of oneness. Therefore, everything is relative, conditioned and impermanent. There is no unchanging, everlasting, absolute substance like Self, Soul, or Ātman within or without. Origin of ABSOLUTE: “free, unrestricted, unconditioned.”

AESTHETICS
Aesthetic lies in the awareness of continuity, consistency and harmony in higher level complexities of form. Also see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

Aesthetics arises with harmony among dimensions. It translates into the arts.

AFFINITY
Affinity is the seeking of continuity of awareness. Also see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

ANALYTICAL
The word analytical is from the Greek, analysis, meaning resolve, undo, loosen, which is to say take something to pieces to see what it is made of. Analytical means capable of resolving, such as problems, situations. The analytical mind would be the conscious aware mind which thinks, observes data, remembers it and resolves problems. It would be essentially the conscious mind as opposed to the unconscious mind. In Dianetics and Scientology the analytical mind is the one which is alert and aware and the reactive mind simply reacts without analysis.

ANGER
Overcoming anger requires looking at the object of anger with compassion. You don’t really know what is going on there.

The simplest essence of anger is that it is a signal that something important to you is being threatened. The healthy man sees it as a signal to wake up, pay attention, and try to see what important thing is being threatened, or what boundary has been crossed. Reactive anger often manifests as blame that your subconscious uses to avoid deeper emotions. Even worse than reactive anger is repressed anger. Unskillful handling of your anger will disrupt connection with others. When it builds up and explodes as aggression, it will make your woman feel unsafe. First, rather than suppress, welcome the anger in with gratitude that it is giving you a powerful reminder of what’s important to you. When you feel angry, welcome it and ask yourself what it is making clear for you. Anger almost ALWAYS covers up an underlying fear and a need. Once you uncover it, wholeheartedly accept what you find. And then share the anger, the fear, and the need with your partner. Sharing the anger conveys the intensity and seriousness. Sharing the fear reveals the truth of what’s happening for you. Sharing the need gives her an opportunity to better meet you as a partner. Your second step is to allow the energy of anger to spur you into action. Convert it into motivation to protect what is important. (Youngblood)

ANOMALY
Please see PM: Glossary.

ANXIETY
See KHTK Glossary: Psychotherapy

I like to frame all of the automatic physical reactions — wide eyes, sweating, clenching, hyper-focused mind, etc. — under the umbrella of anxiety. Let’s separate them from the fear itself in this examination. (Youngblood)

APPEARANCE
The universe is naturally continuous, consistent and harmonious. However, its appearance is dependent on our viewpoint. Therefore, the universe may not appear as it naturally is.

ARBITRARY
An arbitrary factor or force is not aligned with the natural laws. The introduction of an arbitrary brings about disharmony. Also see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

An arbitrary consists of the assumption or projection made during the assimilation of perceptual elements to maintain continuity, consistency and harmony in the mental matrix. The arbitrariness exists because not all data is known. It generates anomalies when various data is associated. These anomalies show up as doubts and perplexities, which are then resolved by getting more precise data.

Origin: “uncertain, capricious.” Arbitrary is something subjected to individual will or judgment without restriction; contingent solely upon one’s discretion. Example: “an arbitrary decision.

ASSIMILATE
Please see PM: Glossary.

ASSUMPTION
An assumption is a postulate that is not fully inconsistent with earlier postulates.

ATTENTION
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

Attention is directed awareness. It is aberrated by becoming unfixed and sweeping at random or becoming too fixed without sweeping.

ATTENTION UNIT
Total awareness of a person may be measured in terms of attention units.

ATTRIBUTE
According to Hubbard, an attribute is a quality, characteristic, or ability, factual, insulting, or flattering.

AURA
a subtly pervasive quality or atmosphere (a part of mental matrix) seen as manifested around a person, place, or thing

AUTOMATICITY
Automaticity is a useful aspect of the mind. Unwanted automaticity comes about when you are unable to adjust it.

AWARENESS
Please see PM: Glossary.

—B—

BASIC PURPOSE
The basic purpose of humanity is to keep on evolving by resolving anomalies as it comes across them. This is because the humans spearhead the evolution in this universe.

BEAUTY
Beauty is associated with continuity, harmony and consistency. In case of human body, it is associated with nice proportions of body parts, smoothness of skin, and fairness of color. One needs to simply appreciate it and leave it alone.

BEING
Please see SELF in PM: Glossary.

BEGINNING
The beginning of something is essentially the postulate, which forms the awareness of that thing. Therefore, the universe began with the manifestation of a starting postulate, which brought the universe into awareness.

BEINGNESS
Please see PM: Glossary.

BEING THERE
To be there is to simply exist in one’s environment without reacting to anything. It is to be able to look at anything without any feeling of internal resistance.

BELIEF
Beliefs are postulates that may or may not be consistent with the postulates underlying this universe.

BODY
The body is the most visible part of a life organism. It is a very complex form made of matter, radiation and thought. It has inherent motion of a very complex nature that makes it appear intelligently self-animated.

The body is physical material arranged per the genetic blueprint. It operates per the electro-chemical-mechanical laws of substance.

BULLSHIT
A bullshit is whatever that is added to a subject without any concern for logic. The fundamental characteristics of logic are continuity, harmony and consistency.

.

—C—

CAUSE-EFFECT
The cause-effect is a dimension of the universe that describes the direction in which it is evolving. Cause and effect describe the two ends of a dimension that extends to infinity in either direction. There is no absolute cause or effect. Each point on this dimension is the cause of the next point. Thus, cause-effect simply describes the evolutionary nature of this universe.

Cause-effect is a duality. They may be looked upon as the two ends of the dimension of states of existence. On this dimension, there is a previous state followed by the next state. The previous state may be perceived as the cause, and the next state may be perceived as its effect. Thus, in a sense cause transforms into effect. Scientology, however, looks at cause-effect in terms of cause point-effect point, where the two points (or terminals) remain static and some action flows from the cause point to the effect point.

CAUSE PRINCIPLE
Substance has inherent motion as well as inherent inertia. The balance of motion and inertia results in a unique speed, such as the “speed of light.” As inertia increases, such as, from light to electron to neutron, the speed decreases. An imperceptible change in inertia seem to result in large perceptible change in speed or motion. All the self-actuated motion of life is, thus, caused by imperceptible shifts in inertia. This is the cause principle underlying the movements of the body as brought about by thought. With evolution, substance has acquired sophisticated structure of body and mind. The mind produces shifts in inertia in the form of thoughts, which then produce all the motion in the body. We may refer to this cause principle as the “inertial drive” of the body.

NOTE: The Higgs mechanism causes shifts in inertia by moving substance across the boundary of the nucleus in an atom. This will influence the inherent motion of the whole atom in principle. Here we see the interface between physics and metaphysics.

CCH (KHTK)
Under the KHTK system, CCH stands for Continuity, Consistency and Harmony. This is the core of the Principle of Oneness.

CERTAINTY
There is a gradient of certainty. Certainty increases as inconsistencies are eliminated from what is known. Assertion of ideas that involve inconsistency is not certainty.

CHANGE
Starting from the beginning postulate there are successive changes that bring about the evolution of that postulate and awareness.

A change is relative to itself. A change relative to others is not really a change because others may be changing and not you. A change relative to others is not really a change unless one is also changing relative to oneself.

A change relative to oneself can only occur when there is resistance to change. That means when there is inertia. When there is no inertia and no resistance to change how can change occur relative to oneself because the ultimate state is a state where there is no resistance to change and that state cannot change further because there is no resistance to change. The ultimate free state of self is then the self that does not resist any change. That is ultimate freedom.

CHAOS
Chaos is no order or absence of order. It is more than just some random motion. Having no random motion, or no motion at all can also be chaos if order is missing.

CONCEPT
Origin: “something conceived.” A concept is a compound postulate. Concepts are associated with mock-ups. For example, one may have the concept of an atom as a very small particle.

CONCEPTUAL LOGIC
Please see PM: Glossary.

CONCEPTUAL TRUTH
Please see PM: Glossary.

CONDITION
The condition can be a “prerequisite,” a “situation,” or simply an “existing state”. It is right there and visible.

CONFINEMENT
Confinement implies restricting of space, movement or perceptions. One is usually left with oneself. He is limited in things he can experience. It usually fixes attention. But it may provide an opportunity to reflect on issues and resolve them.

CONFRONT
Please see PM: Glossary.

CONJECTURE
Origin: “to throw together, form a conclusion.” To conjecture is to form an expression of an opinion or theory without sufficient evidence for proof.

CONSCIOUSNESS
Please see PM: Glossary.

CONSCIOUSNESS INERTIA

  1. There is inertia of consciousness. When this inertia is high it is very difficult to change the consciousness.
  2. A deterioration in thought occurs (inertia increases) as it goes from analytical to reactive.
  3. In the Tone Scale, from 40 to 0 the thought is going from analytical to reactive.
  4. Down the Tone scale, the inertia is increasing, making it harder to improve consciousness.
  5. The laws of PM (Postulate Mechanics) may help approach the broadest misconceptions.
  6. We need to arrange Hindu practices on a Grade Chart. One needs to find the right gradient for a person.
  7. It is best to take the Subject Clearing approach.
  8. The state of reactivity maintains a fixed level of awareness.
  9. The Tone level provides a measure of general fixation in a case.

CONSIDERATION
Please see PM: Glossary.

Origin: “to examine.” To consider is to examine what is there and give it a shape through visualization. A consideration is the shape given as a structure of associations. The moment something is triggered by the unknowable, it is defined in the mind by considerations.

CONSISTENCY
According to English dictionary, consistency is a degree of density, firmness, viscosity, etc. For matter, there is a range of consistency from hydrogen to lawrencium. This is listed as ‘mass number’ in the Periodic Table. Mass is the densest level of consistency that gives matter its momentum. Light, as radiation, has no mass but it has some consistency because it has momentum. The consistency of radiation increases from radio waves to gamma rays, and then as “quantum particles” within the atom. The heaviest quantum particle is the electron, whose consistency is 2000th the mass of a matter particle, such as the proton. The range of consistency for radiation is many orders of magnitude less than mass. The range of consistency for thought is most probably many orders of magnitude less than that of radiation because it cannot even be sensed physically. It can be sensed mentally only. We may say that substance has three very different levels of consistency as thought, radiation and matter. The substance seems to condense through these levels.

The key characteristic of existence is that it is consistent because only consistency provides a firm ground to build upon. Inconsistency indicates, that you are visualizing something, which is not consistent with what is there.

Consistency is the measure of the substantiality of substance. It applies to “energy substance” before it gets condensed into atoms. After condensation consistency is recognized in terms of density, firmness, or viscosity. We may say, “Honey has higher consistency than water.”

For “energy substance” consistency is measured per quantum, where quantum is determined by frequency. For material substance consistency is measured by unit mass, where unit mass is determined by the smallest particle of discrete inertia, such as, proton or neutron.

Similarly, we may say that consistency applies to “thought substance” before it gets condensed into postulates. The units of consistency for cognitive substance are yet to worked out.

CONTINUITY
A dimension is continuous from one side of the duality to the other. The cycle of existence represents continuity of substance in spite of all its variations. The universe exists in this background of continuity.

CONTINUOUS-DISCRETE
“Continuous and Discrete” is a very fundamental duality of energy. Electromagnetic (EM) waves of low frequency were dealt by Maxwell as if they formed a continuum. But, as Einstein showed, these EM waves gradually become quantized at increasing frequencies. This means that the EM waves increasingly exhibit discrete particle-like properties similar to the atoms in a volume of gas. This was the discovery that won Einstein the Nobel Prize.

CONTINUUM
A CONTINUUM is substance that has density (mass) but no center of mass. The continuum is infinitely divisible.

The law of Continuum is a universal law. It manifests itself in continuity, harmony and consistency. Therefore, the universe is a continuum in all its physical, and in all its spiritual aspects. There is also a continuum between spiritual and physical aspects. A person forms a continuum with his environment.

CONTROL
Ultimate controls is naturally assured when all postulates are aligned according to the Principle of Oneness. Control is the ability to predict the change based on the knowledge of the natural laws.

CRITERION OF TRUTH
Please see PM: Glossary.

CYCLE
A cycle is a series of occurrences that repeats. The cycle of existence applies to everything in the universe. All the parts of the universe are beginning, continuing and ending continually. The substance of the universe is cycling through the phases of thought, energy and matter. But the overall substance is conserved and the universe is a constant presence. The universe has neither a beginning nor an end.

A cycle is something that repeats. Begin-Change-End is the most basic cycle. A cycle can be viewed only from a viewpoint independent of that cycle. Thus, we can see cycles within the universe of which we are not a part. Since we are not independent of the universe; we may only speculate on the cycle of the universe. We cannot say if the universe has a beginning or an end. For us, the universe begins with awareness, and ends in non-awareness.

cycle any complete round or series of occurrences that repeats or is repeated.

CYCLE OF ACTION
The sequence that an action goes through, wherein the action is started, is continued for as long as is required and then is completed as planned.

DATA
Please see PM: Glossary.

DEATH
Please see PM: Glossary.

DEBATE
In a debate, each participant is trying to make oneself right and the other person wrong. Very seldom inroads are made into knowledge through debate. A debate is ego driven, and usually ends up in conflicts.

DEEP CONTEMPLATION
Deep contemplation is being aware of how a subject (concept, difficulty, etc.) appears moment to moment. It is like asking yourself moment to moment, “How does (the subject matter) seem now?” It is seeing that subject matter slowly assimilate.

DELUSION
(1) Delusion is a a belief in something which is contrary to fact or reality. Basically, delusion is part of the person and not something out there that can be inspected and cleared up easily. (2) Delusion is a belief in things that are not consistent with reality.

DIAGNOSIS
Diagnosis is isolating the anomaly to focus on with free association. The anomaly may, at first, be understood broadly as whatever the person is unhappy about. It may be a somatic (pain or sensation in the body) and he may focus on that. This may help him become aware of things in the environment that are associated with that somatic. He may also become aware of things he has been avoiding, resisting, denying or suppressing. He may now focus on such things and it may help him recognize more clearly the aberration that he needs to handle. As he then concentrates on the aberration, he may discover certain feelings, emotions, justifications, and other thoughts that he is sensitive to. As he focuses on this sensitive material he may suddenly find himself facing the elusive facsimile. Once he has the facsimile, he may run it out by viewing it from the beginning to the end again and again till it reduces and is completely gone.

DICHOTOMY
Please see PM: Glossary.

DIMENSION
Please see PM: Glossary.

DIRECTED PROCESS
A directed process simply provides some assistance to a person in looking, with the proviso that the process does not imply that there must be something to be found in that direction. The directed process constrains free association to that direction.

DISCONTINUITY
Discontinuity exists where continuity is missing and gaps exist. For example, Joe has a good friend named Bill. Suddenly Bill starts to distance himself. This creates discontinuity in relationship. This discontinuity is incomprehensible to Joe.

DISCUSSION
A discussion is very different from a debate. Here the participants are teaming up together against ignorance. Inroads are often made into knowledge through discussion.

DISHARMONY
Disharmony exists where harmony is missing and upsets exist. For example, Joe and Mary are always disagreeing with each other. Their relationship is full of upsets. They both are unhappy.

DOMINANT INDIVIDUAL
Those who have forced a person to do exactly what they desired with the mechanism of recrimination and denial of friendship or support unless instant compliance takes place. It seeks by anger and outright criticism, accusations, and other mechanisms to pound one into submission by making him less.

DUALITY
A dimension extends in two opposite directions. The dimension of temperature extends to increasingly hot in one direction and increasingly cold in the other. Similarly, the dimension of existence extends toward beginning in one direction and toward ending in the other. These two opposites represent a duality. There are dualities of good-evil, survive-succumb, day-night, etc. Duality is the natural characteristic of the universe. Examples: physical-spiritual, static-dynamic, cause-effect.

Duality means a dual state or quality, such as, hot-cold and good-evil. A duality is formed from the two opposite ends of a dimension. To see duality simply as two opposite items omits seeing the continuity of the dimension between them. That is an anomaly. See DIMENSION.

—E—

EFFECT
That which is brought into existence, taken out of existence, known or not-known is called an effect.

EGO
Please see PM: Glossary.

ELECTRONICS
Electronics parallels the phenomena of thought, but it is much cruder.

EMBODIMENT
Embodiment means to “get out of your head and into your body more.” It takes a variety of somatic practices that use meditation, breath, and movement to bring you into your body. When you become more embodied, it breaks the tyranny of the thinking mind. This naturally brings you more into the present moment for one simple reason: thoughts are largely about past and future, but the body always exists in the now. (Youngblood)

EMOTION
Emotion is a general response to a situation both in mental and physical terms. It could be rational or irrational.

“By emotion I understand the modifications of the body by which the power of action in the body is increased or diminished, aided or restrained, and at the same time the ideas of these modifications.” (Spinoza).

Although emotions are unimaginably complex, I like to think of them very simply: they are the body-mind’s way of automating a set of thoughts and physical reactions that allow you to efficiently interact with the world. You can act without having to think through each step. It is your overreaction to these automated emotional responses that often creates so much anxiety within you and takes you out of the present moment. If you understand your emotions and are not ruled by them, you will naturally be less reactive and more grounded. (Youngblood)

EMPTINESS
You know the universe of things only through your postulates. Therefore, emptiness shall be absence of all postulates. See Emptiness.

END
If there is a beginning, then there also must be an end. A manifestation began with a postulate. It ends when its basis, the starting postulate, is fully realized. At that point there may be either a new staring postulate, or simply non-awareness. At the end of the universe there is either the beginning of a new universe, or there is simply non-awareness.

ENERGY
Please see PM: Glossary.

Energy is a mathematical concept derived from force. It is a mathematical function, much like the “lagrangian” and “hamiltonian” functions.

ENERGY PARTICLE (PHOTON)
The particle of energy is very different from a particle of matter. The particle of matter may be approximated by a point, but that is not the case with a particle of energy. The particle of energy has a volume, which is filled with energy of the same frequency, or consistency. It is called a “photon.” All quantum particles are different types of photons. Photons may be arranged in a “spectrum” of increasing frequency from radio waves to gamma rays. At the upper end of this spectrum we have much smaller quantum particles very high frequencies. The size of the photon decreases with increasing frequency. On average, the size of a photon is roughly “c squared” times the size of a proton, where c is the universal constant used for the speed of light. That means a photon is billions of times larger than the size of an atom. We may be able to step into a photon of small frequency.

ESOTERIC
“Esoteric” means understood by or meant for only a small number of people with specialized knowledge or interest; obscure or hard to understand. It can also refer to something having a secret or hidden meaning.

EVOLUTION
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

Origin: “to unroll, open, unfold”. To evolve is to develop gradually. The cycles in this universe lead to evolution from simple to more complex and sophisticated. There is evolution from inanimate objects to self-animated organism. The self-animated organism evolve from the vegetable and the animal kingdoms to humans. The peak of this evolution is the human kind. The deep awareness appears only at the level of humans in the form of knowingness. Each one of us is potentially the free universe. It is the consideration of self, which binds and destroys that freedom. Our evolution depends on resolving the anomalies of the universe and not the fictitious “anomalies of self.”

  1. The innate impulse is to convert Unknowable into the knowable universe by resolving anomalies.
  2. As anomalies are resolved, the evolution of the universe comes about.
  3. The substance evolves under the constraint of oneness in the dimensions of thought, radiation and matter.
  4. The substance evolves by acquiring details that bring about the effect of condensing it through complexity.
  5. The thought substance evolves from awareness through levels of consciousness into knowledge.
  6. The radiation substance evolves from continuity to discreteness.
  7. The matter substance evolves from lighter to heavier mass.
  8. Beingness comprises of thought, radiation and matter.
  9. The components of beingness are awareness, attention and viewpoint.
  10. The primary dimensions of substance are consistency, space, and time.
  11. Consistency dimension evolves into gravity, radiation and matter
  12. Spatial dimension evolves into many sub-dimensions of properties. Each property evolves along its dimensions
  13. Time dimension evolves into many sub-dimensions of cycles. Each cycles evolves along its dimension.
  14. Evolution provides properties and cycles of increasing complexity.
  15. Spiritual-Physical duality
  16. Static-Kinetic duality
  17. Cause-Effect duality
  18. Know to Mystery scale of the viewpoint: alter-isness and not-isness
  19. Unwanted conditions: forgetfulness, unconsciousness
  20. Evolution: inanimate matter, self-animated life
  21. Self-animation: reaction, thinking, self-awareness
  22. Birth-death cycle
  23. Survive-succumb duality
  24. The mind — Matrix model

EXISTENCE
The dimension of existence is represented by the cycle of “begin-change-end”.

Any thing that can be sensed and perceived has existence. It is part of the universe.

Existence is everything that is manifested. There is no existence that is not manifested. Anything that is manifested is capable of being perceived.

Conjectures about existence are manifested as conjectures. They exist. Anything, whether physical or not, when manifested exists.

Existence consists of matter, energy, space, time and thought.

The key characteristic of existence is that it is consistent because only consistency provides a firm ground to build upon. Inconsistency indicates, that you are visualizing something, which is not consistent with what is there.

EXISTING SCENE
The existing scene is the broad general scene on which a body of current data exists. It is what is really there—the people or personnel, their current state, the lines, the hats, the buildings, equipment, and the state of them, the tech in use and current news.

EXPERIENCE
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

EXPERIMENTATION
Origin: “to try, test.” To experiment is to try or test, especially in order to discover or prove something.

—F—

FACT
A fact is something consistent with what is observable; but it is true only to the degree that it is free of anomalies.

FANTASY
Origin: “a making visible, display.” Fantasy is basically imagination, especially when extravagant and unrestrained. It is a visualization of desired scenarios and conditions. Fantasy is essential to bringing about a new and improved reality. All progress in science and humanities has come about as a result of fantasies.

FEAR
Fear is the mind’s resistance to an outcome that it doesn’t want to happen. The mind resists because traumatic past experiences have lodged themselves into your psyche, and your subconscious now considers similar outcomes in the present day to be absolutely “unacceptable”.  But most fears arise unexamined and may be somewhat irrational. Many are born of overreaction to signals that resemble those from prior traumatic experiences. Overcoming fear means challenging your subconscious about the outcome being “unacceptable”.The opposite of fear would be surrender. You no longer resist the possibility of the outcome happening. You accept it. You may not like it, and you may suffer because of it. But you accept that it could happen and that you will survive it if it does. You just have to develop the core belief that you’ll be fine if it does happen. In that acceptance, you will see the fear start to fade. (Youngblood)

FIGHTING
Fighting always involves arbitrary force. In the situation involving a fight, postulates have gone misaligned for too long, as in the violation of the Principle of Oneness.

FIXED ATTENTION

  1. Have you ever had the feeling that somebody’s eyes are following you? It seems that you know when somebody’s attention is fixed on you. Similarly, when your attention is fixed on somebody, then that somebody has a feeling about it. This is an interesting phenomenon.
  2. Fixed attention on an area, or subject, indicates the presence of an anomaly in that area, or subject, that needs to be defined more precisely.

FIXED IDEA
A fixed idea is an idea held in the mind that influences perception in a certain way. Prejudiced people are suffering mainly from a fixed idea. A fixed idea is not examined by the person holding it. It blocks the existence of any contrary observation. Fixed ideas are held as personal ideals. An example of a fixed idea is, “Life is always like that.”

FORCE
Common to all substance is the FORCE sensed upon contact. The characteristic of force is resistance. If there is no resistance there is no force and no substance. As substance increases in consistency, its force also increases. Force is perceived in the form of sensations. No aspect of force can ever vanish without a trace. It is always discoverable in some other form. The imbalance between inertia and motion generates internal force.

Force is the manifestation of acceleration or deceleration in motion caused by a change in frequency. This is sensed in our very being. It underlies all our physical senses. All our perception is based on force. Any sense of substantialness comes from impacts on our sense organs. The impact is always in the form of force. This is what defines any substance.

This was Faraday’s view of force. Maxwell defined it mathematically as “the tendency of a body to pass from one place to another,” that depended upon “the amount of change of tension which that passage would produce.” Unlike Faraday, Maxwell did not relate force directly to the nature of substance.

FORM
Forms are what we sense and perceive. Light, electron and atoms are elementary forms. These elementary forms evolve into more complex forms, such as, molecules, organic molecules, minerals, virus, cells, organisms, etc.

Forms are what we sense and perceive. Light, electron and atoms are elementary forms. These elementary forms evolve into more complex forms, such as, molecules, organic molecules, minerals, virus, cells, organisms, etc.

FREE ASSOCIATION
In Subject Clearing, free association takes place when a person does not avoid, resist, suppress, deny or otherwise interfere with the activity of the mind. It means letting the mind unwind itself without resistance. This is the process used during contemplation.

In free association one looks at the mind without interfering with it. Attention may flip from place to place; but as one keeps looking non-judgmentally without resistance, a pattern may emerge. As one keeps looking, the pattern may reveal some inconsistency. Such free association is non-verbal.

FREEDOM
Freedom is not something arbitrary. One is always bound by one’s own assumptions and fixed ideas. Optimum freedom is tied with being consistent with the postulates underlying this universe. In Christianity, freedom comes from being consistent with Christian morals. In America, freedom comes from being consistent with the American Constitution.

Freedom is naturally there in the make-up of beingness and life. Freedom lessens to the degree one deviates from that nature. To increase freedom, one needs to overcome the natural programming. Absence of fixation of attention.

FREE WILL
Please see PM: Glossary.

FREQUENCY
Frequency is the rate of occurrence of the cycles. Any substance has a frequency, which is the measure of its consistency. The higher is the frequency, the more substantial is the substance. With increase in frequency the space (particle size) of the substance shrinks and its time (duration) becomes more enduring.

Conflicting postulates are called a game. The purpose of the game is to evolve by resolving the conflict. But due to fixation of the viewpoint on postulates, the games tend to reduce one’s ability to postulate.

GENERALITY
A generality may point out a general pattern, such as, through a mathematical equation. It still needs to be filled with specifics in order to reach a worthwhile conclusion in a situation.

GENETIC ENTITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

GENETIC LINE
The Genetic Line consists of the postulates that are responsible for the evolution of the physical body. The body upon experiencing deep trauma generates facsimiles that are carried forward on the genetic line to future generations. It takes such facsimiles three to four generations to assimilate, and that contributes to the evolution of the body.

GOD
God is supposed to be the ultimate self, which has realized all its potential. It is an identification applied to the Unknowable.

Origin: “To call, invoke.” The Semitic religions believe in one God, which implies ONENESS of creation (the universe). God personifies the cause of the universe. It is assigned infinity of attributes. God exists throughout the universe.

GOOD and EVIL
Good or evil is defined by situations that aid or hinder evolution.

GRAVITY
GRAVITY is a substance that is a continuum because it does not have center of mass.

The “particle” of gravity is the whole space that contains the universe. Thus, gravity forms the ‘static’ background for the rest of the universe. Gravity is the purest form of physical force. It is the basis of all substance. On the spectrum of substance, gravity is just above ground state. The gravitational field manifests as space. As the gravitational field condenses it transitions into radio waves at some point. Radio waves form the bottom of electromagnetic spectrum. At the top of the electromagnetic spectrum are gamma rays. Gamma rays condense into the electronic region of the atom. This electronic region finally condenses into the nucleus of the atom. Thus, gravity finally condenses into atoms, from which all matter is formed. Gravity, as space, is lower than light on the spectrum of substance. That means, the consistency of gravity is much less than that of light; and a gravitational disturbance has much greater speed than that of light. Thus, gravitational effects are expected to travel in the universe much faster than light.

GROUND STATE
The ground state has no awareness and no definition (see UNKNOWABLE). The definition comes with awareness.

At the bottom of the spectrum of substance is the theoretical Ground state. This state is also referred to as the Void. In this state there is no cyclic motion. Therefore, there is no inertia, substance, consistency, space or time. One cannot be aware of this state because awareness starts with inertia.

—H—

HANDLING
Just as you proceed to the SITUATION—go big, when it comes to handling it usually occurs that reverse is true—go small!

HAPPINESS
Happiness comes from evolving toward better states of existence. It consists of the joy that comes from resolving aberrations and anomalies. “Spinoza begins by making happiness the goal of conduct; and he defines happiness very simply as the presence of pleasure and the absence of pain.” (Will Durant).

HARMONY
Since the universe evolves in the background of continuity and consistency, it possesses harmony among all its dimensions.

HATE
Overcoming of hate requires looking at the object of hate with compassion. You don’t really know what is going on there.

HUMAN BEING
A person is a human being. It is a self that has yet to realize its full potential. He is viewed as an “image of God” in Abrahamic religions.

HUMAN MIND
The task of the human mind is to keep the beingness and knowledge free of anomalies (See MENTAL MATRIX, ANOMALY). But Scientology conceives the human mind to be the recorder, computer and solver of problems relating to survival.

—I—

“I”
“I” is the “center of awareness” of the mental matrix. This concept is similar to the concept of “center of mass” of a solid object in Physics.

IDEAL SCENE
In Scientology, the entire concept of an ideal scene for any activity is really a clean statement of its purpose. From the viewpoint of Subject Clearing, that purpose must not violate the Principle of Oneness. From that purpose one then constructs an ideal organization to carry out the activity.

IDENTITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

ILLUSION

  1. Illusion is a surface manifestation which disappears when experience is consulted. Basically, illusion is out there which, when closely inspected, clears up.
  2. Illusion is anything that is not seen for what it is. It is colored by one’s filters.
  3. Not seeing things as they are, and this creates anomalies.

IMAGINATION
Please see PM: Glossary.

IMMORTALITY

  1. Origin: “not die.” Immortality means undying condition or unending life.
  2. Immortality refers to those aspects of a person that are not subject to death and continue forever. Consciousness is such an aspect but person’s identity or individuality are not. Certain impressions may survive some life cycles, but they die out eventually. Man is always trying to penetrate mysteries and solve problems to know what is there. Man’s goal is the immortality of consciousness and not the immortality of identity or individuality. There is no immortal soul or thetan; but there is immortal consciousness.

IMPRESSION
A memory impression in the mind is made of associations that are relatively fixed. These are perceptual elements that are only partially assimilated. Upon full assimilation they have the fluidity of knowledge.

INCONSISTENCY
An inconsistency is a variance between the way something appears and the harmony that should be there. It is hidden under unreal beliefs and strange rituals. A doubt, uncertainty, confusion, contradiction, dissonance, conflict, etc., all point to some inconsistency. Resolution of inconsistencies leads back to a natural equilibrium.

INDIVIDUAL
Please see PM: Glossary.

INDIVIDUALITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

INERTIA
Inertia is the tendency of the motion to continue in its course. Any effort to change that course is met with resistance. Inertia is caused by the cyclic nature of motion. The cycles make the motion centered and finite. As the cycles increase in frequency, the motion becomes more centered and finite. This increases the inertia of motion. In fact, inertia may be measured in terms of frequency of motion.

Inertia is manifested only when the course of motion changes, as during an impact. There is an acceleration or deceleration of motion. This phenomena of inertia underlies the sense of touch. It also underlies during any contact, such as, between the eye and light.

INFORMATION
Information is symbolized thought.

INTELLIGENCE
Please see PM: Glossary.

INTUITION
Please see PM: Glossary.

—J—

JUSTIFICATION

  1. To justify is to present reason or excuse for something done.
  2. Scientology) “explaining away the most flagrant wrongnesses. Most explanations of conduct, no matter how far-fetched, seem perfectly right to the person making them since he or she is only asserting self-rightness and other-wrongness.”

—K—

KEY WORD
A key word is a label given to a well-defined concept.

KHTK
KHTK is a system of philosophy that is developed through the use of Subject clearing. KHTK aims at discovering the consistent set of postulates that underlies the universe. The acronym “KHTK” was created from the phrase “Knowing How To Know.”

A fundamental postulate of KHTK is that the ideal scene of this universe is expressed by the Principle of Oneness. Therefore, any unwanted condition must come from a violation of this principle of Oneness.

KNOW
Origin: “be able to.” To know is to apprehend clearly and with certainty. One can only know what is manifested. One may only speculate upon what is not manifested.

KNOWABLE
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

KNOWINGNESS
1. Origin: “to know how, be able to” To know is to perceive or understand as fact or truth; to apprehend clearly and with certainty. Knowingness comes about as perception get assimilated and evolve into deep understanding. Here we have extremely sophisticated associations of the elements of the universe.
2. Knowingness depends upon lack of inconsistencies in one’s mental matrix and perception.

KNOWLEDGE
Please see PM: Glossary.

Knowledge arises in the mind as perceptions get assimilated. All knowledge should be consistent, regardless of where it comes from. If there are any inconsistencies in knowledge then these are anomalies that need to be investigated and resolved.

KNOWN
When something is manifested, one can look at it and know it. One can only know what is manifested. One may only speculate upon what is not manifested.

LAW OF POSTULATE MECHANICS
Please see PM: Glossary.

LIFE
Please see PM: Glossary.

LIFE CYCLE
A life cycle is the cycle of a life unit from birth to death. That life unit is defined by its identity and individuality. The evolution of consciousness is a product of life unit that continues on through life cycles.

[From regular dictionary] Broad concept (life): “body (aliveness).” Broad concept (cycle): “circle, wheel.”

LIFE FORCE
The life force is the ultimate beingness. See BEINGNESS.

LIGHT
LIGHT, as a substance, is a continuum because it does not have any center of mass. Only its interactions with other things appear as “energy particles”. At those moments it is said to have collapsed. Light is alive with intrinsic motion.

LOCATION
A location is where something is. A thetan considers itself to be located at the center of the skull where perceptions converge. This consideration is generally fixed, although a thetan may consider itself to be located somewhere else if it wishes. The thetan believes itself to be the body, but this is only a belief. A thetan is capable of generating any belief.

LOGIC
Please see PM: Glossary.

LOGOS
Origin: “a word, saying, speech, discourse, thought, proportion, ratio, reckoning.” In philosophy, Logos is the rational principle that governs and develops the universe. In Christian Theology, Logos is the divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ.

From Subject Clearing, the earliest impulse is “to evolve.” This impulse uses the power “to consider.” This power is used to postulate a reality that is consistent throughout. It is this reality, which then continues to evolve. And we get a dynamic universe.

LOOKING

  1. To look is to direct one’s attention to become aware of what is there. Looking is not just seeing; it means “perceiving what the senses have presented”. See Introduction to Looking.
  2. Looking means to observe and recognize things for what they are. Looking does not involve thinking. Accurate perception requires the elimination of inconsistencies through unstacking of unassimilated impressions.
  3. Looking is the use of sense organs (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and mind) to observe and experience what is there.
  4. In looking, we spot physical and mental objects, just as they are, without associating them with each other.
  5. The only thing that can be said about looking is that to look one must be willing to be there and face things without flinching or avoiding. If you cannot be there then you cannot look and experience.

—M—

MAN
Man spearheads the evolution in this universe. Man sees Paramātma (God) as the state he wants to evolve to.But, among man, there is delusion. Those who are deluded imagine Paramātma (God) to be a separate identity either in the sky or within them, that commands them.

MANIFESTATION

  1. Origin: “detected in the act, evident, visible.” A manifestation is something readily perceived by the eye or the understanding; It is something evident; obvious; apparent; plain.
  2. A manifestation starts as a visualization. This visualization may be a speculation, which upon assimilation becomes a consideration. The consideration may be objectified as sensation, perception or knowledge.
  3. We become aware of the universe upon its manifestation.
  4. A manifestation is brought about through visualization. Anything that can be perceived is manifested.
  5. A manifestation consists of beingness and awareness.

MATTER
Please see PM: Glossary.

Mass gives matter a certain rigidity, which allows matter to be divided into very small particles, such as, molecules and atoms. A material object, regardless of its size, can be treated mathematically, as if all its mass is concentrated at a point. We call this point the “center-of-mass.” The “center-of-mass” allows a material object to be represented as a point particle in most mathematical visualizations.

MEMORY
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.
Memory in Dianetics is considered to be any concept of perceptions stored in the standard memory banks which is potentially recallable by the “I.” Dianetics looks at all memories as facsimiles, but memories are not facsimiles. A facsimile cannot be perceived until it is first assimilated in the mental matrix. Normal facsimiles are routinely assimilated in real time. But facsimiles of trauma, that contain pain, unconsciousness, loss, etc., require auditing to be assimilated. It is only during auditing that the contents of a traumatic facsimile are perceived for the first time. Once assimilated, the recordings disappear. The content now exists as elements of the mental matrix, which are associated by their time stamps. When a memory is recalled its matrix associations are simply activated. This memory adjusts itself to different points of views. It is no longer a fixed recording. It is a misconception that memories exist in the mind as perfect recordings. Hubbard did not make a clear distinction between a facsimile and an assimilation of facsimile into a memory.

MENTAL IMAGE PICTURES
This is a Scientology term. Please see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

Scientology uses this term also for reconstructed memories, and for unassimilated sensations that can be perceived only vaguely.

MENTAL MATRIX
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.
By definition, a matrix is a surrounding medium, structure, or environment in which something develops. The surrounding structure of mental matrix consists of postulates and experience, in which new experience develops through the assimilation of incoming sensation. The mental matrix assimilates incoming sensation by decomposing it into small elements. The elements are then assigned meanings along with time characteristics that are consistent with postulates and experience. The sensations are thus converted into perceptions in real time. The mental matrix continually gives meaning to new sensations as they are experienced. It, thus, gathers new experience and expands. Elements of the mental matrix associate with each other to produce phenomena, such as, memory, imagination, thinking, consciousness, etc.

The reason the unassimilated sensations (karma) coming down the ancestral line appear to be YOUR past life memory is because you are assimilating those sensations in your current life. These sensations are being assimilated for the first time in hundreds of years or more. But they are being assimilated through your mental matrix. It is this matrix that defines your current self as well.

MENTAL OBJECTS
The mental objects are memories, thoughts, and feelings triggered by incoming perceptual elements.

MENTAL PROCESS
We may summarize the fundamentals of mental processes as follows.

  1. The universe excites the sense organs.
  2. The sense organs produce sensations.
  3. The sensations disintegrate into perceptual elements.
  4. The perceptual elements assimilate within the larger mental matrix.
  5. The assimilation produces the perception of the universe.
  6. Elements of the mental matrix combine to produce the mental functions of memory, imagination, reasoning, etc.

MEST
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

METAPHYSICS
Metaphysics refers to a group of subjects that deal with non-physical substance. More precisely, metaphysics deals with sensations generated within the mind itself. In physics there is an obvious criterion for truth in terms of consistency with the physical universe. Unfortunately, such a criterion for truth does not exist in metaphysics. What metaphysics is missing is the Principle of Oneness.

METRIC
The metric forms a continuous scale of the numerical values for the characteristic being measured as a dimension.

MIND
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

Mind is looked upon as a computer in Scientology; but Buddhism has always looked upon mind as a SENSE ORGAN. Mind is essentially a coordinating and assimilating agency of the body. It takes all the sensations enetring the body at any moment through the various sense channels, and assimilates them together to convert them into perceptions. It also keeps an eye on the perceptions and compiles them into memories. It then takes a long term view and assimilates all memories into experiences. As time passes, it starts to assimilate experienes into knowledge. Dianetics assists the mind in assimilating raw sensations into perceptions, and perceptions into memories. Scientology assists the mind in assimilating memories into experience, knowledge and wisdom.

MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is observing things as they are, with full awareness of one’s assumptions. No past ideas and learning in the area of doubt and perplexity are sacrosanct (meaning so “sacred” that you cannot question them).

MISCONCEPTION
A misconception, or a postulated anomaly, lies at the bottom of a facsimile. For example, in the midst of a car accident a person may postulate, “I am a bad driver,” or “I cannot drive a car.” It may just be a minor accident, but the postulate is made and then forgotten. It gets buried so deep that it affects the very viewpoint of the person. After, such an incident, this person’s driving gets worse and worse. He even gets into a fatal accident, which forms the actual engram and buries his postulate even further. When the engram is run, this postulate is never discovered. On OT Levels, one is directly handling such postulates or misconceptions. Hubbard called them Body thetans (BTs).

A misconception is an erroneous conception, a mistaken notion, such as, a fixed idea, an irrational belief, or a misunderstood.

Misconceptions are DUB-INS. Misconceptions of identity, time, place, form and event hang a thetan up.

MIS-POSTULATE
A mis-postulate is a postulate that is in violation of the Principle of Oneness.

MONAD
A unit of influence associated with an atom

MOTION
Motion is the inherent ability of the forms to shift. As forms evolve their inherent motion becomes increasingly complex. This makes virus, cells and organisms appear self-animated.

The fundamental motion is the oscillation that characterizes the very substance of this universe. It appears physically as the oscillation between electrical and magnetic fields. Its essence lies in awareness.

Motion is the inherent ability of the forms to shift and move. As forms evolve their inherent motion becomes increasingly complex. This makes virus, cells and organisms appear self-animated.

Motion is self-actuated and inherently free aliveness as observed in the motion of light and the electrons. It is infinite when when it is free. Motion becomes bounded and finite when it is cyclic. With the increase of cycles, the motion becomes increasingly centered. It then takes force to move it away from that centeredness. That resistance of motion to being changed is called inertia. Pure motion is an absence of cycles and inertia.

MULTIVERSE
There are proponents of “multiverses” who think that there are many universes. The Matrix Model looks at these “multiverses” as part of a single large Universe.

MUTUAL DEPENDENCY
From a scientific viewpoint, everything in this universe is interconnected like in a matrix. In other words, everything physical, metaphysical, mental, spiritual, etc., are in intimate association with each other as part of this universe. The universe as a single dynamic entity. The fundamental characteristic of this universe is continuity, harmony and consistency.

MYSTERY
Origin: “secret rites, to initiate.” A mystery is anything unexplained or unknown. It is basically an inconsistency of a gap. It is an unknown consideration.

Please see Glossary: Hinduism.

—N—

NOTHING
Nothing is absence of any manifestation or awareness. From the end of a cycle till the beginning of the next cycle nothing is manifested.

NOUMENON
Origin: “a thing being perceived.” In Kantianism, noumenon is something that can be the object only of a purely intellectual, nonsensuous intuition. It is a thing in itself, as distinguished from a phenomenon or thing as it appears. It is the basis of phenomenon that is experienced, but noumenon itself is inaccessible to experience. Noumenon may also be understood as a fundamental postulate.

NULL
Null represents the absence of everything. For example, when there are values presented on a scale, null would mean the absence of the whole scale itself. See ZERO.

NULLIFICATION PHRASE
Examples of a nullification phrase would be somebody telling you, “You are no good,” “Never talk back to your elders,” “You can’t hear,” etc.

NULLIFYING INDIVIDUAL
Those who have sought to minimize a person so to be able to control him. This is covert, and quite often the person upon whom it is exerted remains unsuspecting beyond the fact that he knows he is very unhappy. This is the coward’s method of domination. The nullifying individual feels that he is less than the individual upon whom he is using it and has not the honesty or fortitude to admit the fact to himself. He then begins to pull the other individual “down to size,” using small carping criticisms. The nullifying individual strikes heavily at the point of pride and capability of his target and yet, if at any moment the target challenges, the nullifying individual claims he is doing so solely out of assistance and friendship or disavows completely that it has been done.

—O—

OBJECT
An object is anything that is visible or tangible and is relatively stable in form. It is made of substance. It has extents that define its shape. It also has a duration of how long a certain shape will remain stable. A proper object conforms to the CCH of the principle of Oneness in its structure.

OBJECTIVE
Anything that is one with the physical reality is objective. This objectivity can be further extended such that it is also one with spiritual reality.

OBSERVER
Self has the ability to place attention on something and assimilate the postulates present. This is called the activity of observation that brings about knowledge. This makes the self an observer. Problem arises when the self is given a fixed identity, such as, a body.

OCCAM’S RAZOR
The principle (attributed to William of Occam) that in explaining a thing no more assumptions should be made than are necessary. The principle is often invoked when solving problems. It generally recommends selecting from among competing hypotheses the one that makes the fewest new postulates.

ONENESS
Please see PM: Glossary.

OPERATIONAL
An activity to be operational must contain parts of its ideal scene. The fact that something is actually operating and solvent can outweigh the untested advantages of changing it.

OPINION
An opinion is a belief or judgment that may or may not be based on facts; but it is likely influenced by personal ideals.

ORGANISM
The whole purpose of the living mind-body organisms is to speed up the evolution of the universe by bringing changes to its immediate environment. As the chaos in the environment impresses itself upon the mind through perceptions, the mind assimilates them in its refined perceptual matrix, thus converting their chaos into order. This generates impulses that motivate the body to implement order in the environment. Thus we have a continuous cycle, which operates from the environment through the mind-body system back on the environment, thus converting chaos into order. This explains the role of living organisms in the universe.

ORIENTATION
Orientation is knowingness with respect to some reference point.

OUT-POINT
An out-point is the Scientology version of an anomaly. It is defined as an illogical departure from the ideal scene. By comparing the existing scene with the ideal scene one easily sees the out-points. Hubbard categorizes these out-points as follows:

  1. Omit a fact.
  2. Change sequence of events.
  3. Drop out time.
  4. Add a falsehood.
  5. Alter importance.

OVERT
A person commits an OVERT (bad action) because of an anomaly in his thinking. If the person is aware on an overt, he can trace it back to an anomaly. This anomaly could be a concept that he did not understand fully; or it could be some experience that he didn’t perceive clearly. If he can resolve that anomaly then he can free himself from his regret because he has now gained new perception.

—P—

PARTICLE
A particle is not a “point,” but it has a volume that is filled with substance. The substance within a particle has uniform consistency throughout. The more condensed is the substance, the smaller is the size of the particle. This predicts the relative sizes of a proton and an electron in a hydrogen atom. The size of the electron is equivalent to the size of the hydrogen atom. On the other hand, the size of the proton is roughly 2000 times smaller because its substance is that much condensed. This provides a proper visualization of the hydrogen atom, where an extremely small proton exists at the center of the only electron there is. A very condensed particle, like proton, may appear to be spherical in shape; but as the consistency of substance decreases, as in the electron, the particle is likely to expand in size and flatten into the shape of a disk.

A particle is a unit of substance whose size is proportional to its wavelength. Electron as a particle is 2000 times bigger than a proton. Photon as a particle is more than 200,000 times bigger than an electron. The boundary of a particle is determined by the cycles of motion of which it is constructed. A particle has the property of centeredness, which is proportional to its frequency. This centeredness is manifested as inertia when attempt is made to change its inherent motion.

PAST
Perception of past gets its meaning from the pattern of the perceptual elements that have the same time stamp of a past moment.

PERCEPTION
Please see PM: Glossary.

PERCEPTUAL ELEMENT
The incoming sensation disintegrate into its elements. We call them perceptual elements because they generate perception upon assimilation into the mental matrix. Each perceptual element is like a “pixel”, which is identified by its characteristics and the time when it were received. This time stamp helps recreate the memory from these perceptual elements later. Origin of perception: “a taking in.”

PERSONAL IDEAL
This is an ideal held by a person which is in violation of the Principle of Oneness. Departure from such an ideal is an error and not an out-point.

PHENOMENON
A PHENOMENON is characterized by motion and awareness. Phenomena forms a scale from physical to metaphysical.

PHENOMENOLOGY
In my opinion, objectivity is extroversion, and subjectivity is introversion. The whole subject of Phenomenology seems to be born out of introversion.

PHOTON
See ENERGY PARTICLE.

PHYSICAL OBJECTS
The physical objects result from the assimilation of coming perceptual elements from the senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

PLEASURE and PAIN
Pleasure or pain comes from success or failure respectively.

POSTULATE
Please see PM: Glossary.

POSTULATE MECHANICS
Please see PM: Glossary.

PRAYER
The therapy in religion takes the form of prayer. The prayer expresses hope that God will resolve the difficulty one is facing. A person, thus, submits to God as the last resort when his own efforts have failed. He surrenders to God for the outcome.

PRESENT
Perception of the present gets its meaning from the pattern of the perceptual elements continually being generated from the assimilation of sensations entering the mind.

PRESENT TIME
A person who is able to see things as they are is in present time. A person who is “stuck in present time” has his attention fixed on something in the present, so he cannot move off that point of fixation.

PSYCHIATRY

PSYCHOANALYSIS
See KHTK Glossary: Psychotherapy

PSYCHOLOGY

PSYCHOSOMATIC
Psycho, of course, refers to mind and somatic refers to body; the term psychosomatic means the mind making the body ill or illnesses which have been created physically within the body by derangement of the mind.

PSYCHOTHERAPY
See KHTK Glossary: Psychotherapy

—Q—

QUANTUM
A quantum is the discrete amount of energy, which is radiated from an atom, or absorbed in an atom, as a unit. It is a definite amount of energy that participates in a sub-atomic reaction. Energy does not have the property of center-of-mass; therefore, it cannot be physically divided into particles. Energy is a field of energy of certain consistency that flows like a fluid, and when it participates in a sub-atomic reaction, quanta of energy are either absorbed or released. It is erroneous to visualize a quantum of energy as a particle. In other words, photons or an electrons do not exist as individual particles in space. The flow of energy in space is not granular but smoothly continuous. Different quanta are energy fields of different consistencies. Einstein made an error in visualizing photon as pulses of light in space. To summarize, a quantum is the unit amount of energy involved in a sub-atomic reaction. Its amount depends on its consistency.

—R—

REACTIVE MIND
This is a Scientology term. Please see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

  1. In principle, the Reactive Mind postulated by Hubbard is the same thing as the Unconscious mind of Freud. It makes a person react in a stimulus-response fashion, but the person is not aware of its source.
  2. The unassimilated parts of the mental matrix influence the thinking of a person into having fixed ideas, and influence his behavior into engaging in actions not supported by reason.

REAL
Real is anything that is manifested and which exists. It could be matter, energy, thought, speculation or assumption. If it is manifested, it is real.

REALISM
The philosophical system called realism focuses on spotting the inconsistencies in reality at the thought level.

REALITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

REASONING
Please see PM: Glossary.

RECALL
If one cannot recall a specific memory, then it is quite possible that the memory has been fully assimilated into knowledge; and it would have to be reconstructed carefully for the time under consideration. But it is also possible that a lack of assimilation elsewhere is preventing the recall of this time.

RELATIVE MOTION
In Physics, we are looking at relative motion among material particles that are existing within something called “space”. This “space” may be approximated as a huge “light particle.” The motion of the light substance within the light particle is ‘c’ times the motion of the material substance within the material particles. The number ‘c’ is so huge that it appears to be constant from the perspective of the material particles. The consistency and motion among material particles is, however, comparable; and it provides us with the range of speeds that we observe in the material universe.

RELIGION
ORIGIN: “to bind, tie”. Theistic or atheistic: all religions are simply describing the same God differently. Buddha’s stand was “no permanent self”. India’s all-pervading cosmic spirit (God) is the ultimate system of postulates that is flexible but consistent. The individual self of Semitic religions is a unique system of postulates. The individual self can approach God only by realizing that its own system of postulates can be flexible while consistent. So, there is no inconsistency among the major religions. As far as postulates themselves are concerned, they are infinite in variety and combinations. Morality comes from the consistency of the postulates, while they are being flexible. Nothing is arbitrary or separate.

Religion may be regarded as the earliest form of therapy based on faith (trust in a concept). The primary concept used in religion is “God,” through which the teachings of a religion are channeled. These teachings prescribe beliefs to be adopted and behaviors to be practiced. Buddhism is the only religion that bypasses the concept of God and prescribes a way of thinking based on the Principle of Oneness.

Religion was the first effort of the thinking mind to explain the world it experienced. It was beset by unknowns, so it postulated. Cicero suggested that the origin of the word RELIGION lay in relegere (“to go through again” or “consider carefully”), combining re- (“again”) with legere (“read” or “gather”). This interpretation emphasizes careful attention or repeated consideration of the divine.

Religion is the Seventh dynamic of a culture. It consists of a set of beliefs to which the followers of the religion are strongly devoted. The key belief is usually expressed in the form of a superhuman agency (God), which is assumed to be the cause of this universe. The beliefs are generated to understand the nature of God. Religion prescribes practices, rituals, and codes of conduct that would, hopefully, bring one closer to this understanding.

RIGHTNESS
The effort devoted to the resolution of anomalies is the right effort.

ROTATION
The only way there can be persistent acceleration is through rotation and not through linear motion. Rotation is a change in direction. A direction is a persisting condition. The persisting condition is a field or mass. Thus, a rotation is real and not abstract. It does not depend on masses around one. There is no Mach’s principle.

—S—

SADNESS
I see sadness as resistance to loss. It is the non-acceptance of something that is now gone from or exiting your life. Of course, your conscious mind probably knows the loss is real and irreversible, but the subconscious does not want to let go. This is natural, and it is very healthy to allow sadness the time it needs to arise and flow through you. You don’t need to rush the unfolding. It will take as long as it takes. But you can support yourself by finding the places in you that are resisting reality. Relax into and accept what is actually happening. You suffer not because of reality itself, but because you resist reality. (Youngblood)

SANITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

SATORI
The Japanese term for the experience of enlightenment, i.e., Self-realization, opening the Mind’s eye, awakening to one’s True-nature and hence of the nature of all existence. See also “kensho.”

SCIENCE
The Latin root of the word SCIENCE derives from sciens, the present participle of scire, meaning “to know.” The ultimate proto-Indo-European root is hypothesized to mean “to cut” or “to split,” suggesting a process of discerning, separating, or distinguishing knowledge from ignorance or error. This etymology emphasizes the critical, analytical process at the heart of scientific pursuit—distinguishing between ideas, separating fact from fiction, and testing hypotheses. The Scientic Method, however, tests for consistency between the conclusions from a hypothesis and the actual reality. But, if the ideal reality is not known, then science has to do with consistency among all the data available along with its context. The ultimate in science is ONENESS (continuity, consistency and harmony) among all known data.

  1. Origin: “to know.” Science is systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
  2. Science is a study of manifestations. The primary manifestation seems to have the aspects of energy and matter. The secondary manifestation seems to be space and time. Science presupposes SOMETHING to be there. Science cannot describe the beginning of universe as long as it presupposes SOMETHING to exist before the beginning.

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE
To me the foundation of science is CONSISTENCY. It leans towards CONTINUITY in one direction, and towards HARMONY in the other direction. Any evidence will be a demonstration of this CONSISTENCY. Spiritual evidence is very different from physical evidence. Physical evidence requires consistency with physical reality; whereas, spiritual evidence requires consistency with spiritual reality. Some people clamor for physical evidence even for spiritual reality. That is misguided. Such people cannot conceive of spiritual consistency among spiritual realities. That is a weakness. An anomaly is a violation of continuity, consistency and harmony. To me the ultimate criterion for any truth is absence of all anomalies. A relative truth shall be a relative absence of anomalies. It would be the absence of anomalies within a limited context.

SELF
Please see PM: Glossary.

SELF-DETERMINATION
Please see PM: Glossary.

SELF-HELP
Self-help should be totally free. It should be made as easy as possible for anyone to help themselves. It should provide hope to the person that he can improve. The model for self-help is the one provided by Buddha. Buddha worked all his life to help people benefit from his technology of mindfulness, “Seeing things as they are.”

SENSATION
Please see PM: Glossary.

SENSE ORGANS
The mind senses through the sense organs that collect data through seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. It gives this data meaning by further sensing continuity, consistency and harmony among that data, and postulating where necessary. Thus, perception starts to form in the mind.

SHAME
Put simply, shame is the fear of having your undesirable traits seen by others. You might feel ashamed of your height, looks, intelligence, imperfect skin, the sound of your voice, or how much money you make. Shame lies to you and tells you that if others were to know these things about you they would see your unworthiness and therefore reject or abandon you. Healthy guilt would say “I made a mistake or a blunder, and I can repair that blunder.” Unhealthy shame has a person say “I am a mistake — everything I do is flawed and defective.” Shame causes you to believe that you ARE bad, rather than you DID something bad. You create what’s known as a “false self”, which is an airtight self-image that does not include your “flaws”. You hide the “real you” behind this false self. Unfortunately, this precludes the possibility of true honesty and authenticity in your relationships. And you’ll always know you’re living a lie. You stay quiet or withdraw, avoiding interactions that might expose the “you” that you try to hide. Your subconscious lives by the motto “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” So, how does a man overcome his own shame? The answer is surprisingly simple, although hard to do: come out of hiding. Shame thrives in the dark and cannot stand the logical scrutiny of light. So start to surface the things about which you hold shame. (Youngblood)

SIN
Sin is basically an action which one knows to be wrong. It is an action that goes against one’s self-determinism. One would never commit such an action. But when one is not allowed to be self-determined, and one’s thinking is determined by others, then that natural understanding of wrongness is missing. It is replaced by a feeling of unease at the back of one’s mind. The feeling of uneasiness evaporates when one takes a self-determined look at the conflict surrounding one’s actions.

Sin consists of acting against one’s inherent beingness, or not acting according to it.

SITUATION
A situation is a major departure from the ideal scene. It is a not expected state of affairs. It is either very good or it is very bad.

SITUATION ANALYSIS
We obtain an analysis of the situation by analyzing all the data we have and assigning the outpoint data to the areas or parts. The area having the most outpoints is the target for correction. A situation analysis only indicates the area that has to be closely inspected and handled.

SOLID
This is a Scientology term. Please see Scientology Technical Dictionary.

The person experiences the feeling of pressure becoming heavier or the somatic intensifying. He starts to get more uptight.

SOLIPSISM
Philosophy. the theory that only the self exists or can be proved to exist.

SOMETHING
Something is a manifestation and awareness. It is always manifested as a cycle because it has a beginning and an end.

SOUL
Please see PM: Glossary.

The SOUL refers to the animating, non-physical essence of life. In philosophy, this term has been used to refer to the mind. In religion, it is theorized to be that eternal aspect of the person, which separates from the body upon death, and goes to heaven or hell.

SOURCE
A source is any thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained; origin. The ultimate source is unknowable, and the first thing to arise is the postulate of knowing.

SPACE
Please see PM: Glossary.

SPECTRUM OF SUBSTANCE
The gradient of increasing consistencies gives us a spectrum of substance. At the bottom we have the ephemeral thought of infinitesimal consistency. Above it, we have the invisible energy of imperceptible consistency. At the top, we have the visible matter of tangible consistency.

SPECULATION

  1. Origin: “to watch over, explore“. There is always some speculation in thinking, but thinking reduces to speculation only, when possibilities are entertained that do not have firm basis.
  2. When you speculate on the nature of NOTHING in a consistent manner, you get a universe.

SPEED
The concept of speed applies to a particle. The measure of absolute speed of a particle is inverse of its centeredness. Since the “particle” of gravity is least centered, its speed is infinite. This means that the particle of gravity is manifested instantly at any location in the universe. Thus, speed has the sense of the rapidity with which a particle is manifested at a location after being manifested at another location.

SPIRIT
Please see PM: Glossary.

SPIRITUALITY
Please see PM: Glossary.

SPIRITUAL SANCTITY
A state of spiritual sanctity is a condition of heightened holiness, purity, and devotion achieved through dedicated spiritual practices like purification and righteous living, which deepens one’s connection with the divine. While the exact nature and path to this state vary by religion and tradition, the core idea involves being set apart or made holy, often leading to a life characterized by wholeness, righteousness, and a profound love for God and neighbor.

STACKING
Origin: “haystack.” Stack is a more or less orderly pile or heap. Perceptions, memories and visualizations may get suppressed and get stacked up, waiting to be inspected and released.

STARTING POSTULATE
No matter how rational a system of philosophy might appear, if the starting postulate is inconsistent, the whole philosophical system would ultimately become unsustainable. The starting postulate for the Universe shall express the broadest view of the universe. The starting postulates, such as, “uncaused cause,” and “unmoved mover” are inconsistent in themselves. Therefore, the philosophical systems based on such postulates have become unsustainable in spite of all the effort to make them appear rational.

STATISTICS
A statistic is a numerical measure of the effect caused by an activity. It provides the most direct judgment of the activity as it bypasses the influence of varying opinions. The statistic is considered positive When the activity contributes positively to survival.

SUBCONSCIOUS
Subconscious is made of unassimilated content of the mind. It is not perceived clearly because it is unassimilated.

SUBJECT CLEARING
Please see PM: Glossary.

SUBJECT CLEARING ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE
Subject Clearing is the general technique employed to clear up the confusion of relationships among different concepts. This handles the source of many problems the person is having.

  1. Our Hindu scriptures were developed over a period of centuries.
  2. Many different rishis have contributed to this knowledge.
  3. Many different concepts have been expressed through the same word.
  4. Many different words have been used to express the same concept.
  5. This situation prevents us from understanding our scriptures accurately.
  6. There is need to standardize WORDS to define exact concepts of Hinduism.
  7. English language and the modern scientific approach can bring this standardization.
  8. The technique of Subject Clearing makes this standardization very rapid.

SUBJECTIVE
A datum is subjective to the degree it is not defined but assumed. Thus, the postulate one is starting out from is the most subjective datum. This postulate is simply accepted as true,  therefore, it is real to the person. But it is also the most subjective datum because it is not defined by any other datum. The data that is defined within the reference frame of one’s postulate appears as objective, but it is objective relative to that reference frame only.

The data that lies outside the reference frame of one’s postulate appears to be subjective by definition. It also appears to be anomolous because it cannot be defined within one’s reference frame. To become objective, an anomaly must be resolved within the reference frame of one’s postulate. Too many anomalies may require a review of one’s basic postulate and its upgrade.

One’s awareness is, therefore, subjective, to the degree anomalies are present.

Origin: “submissive to a ruler.” Subjectivity refers to the alteration or impurity added by the observer to what is observed. Postulating the unknowable in the mind does not make it subjective. In philosophical terms, bringing the unknowable to knowable is not an alteration or “adding impurity” because you don’t know what was there before. When we look at the postulated universe, the added impurities or alterations become visible as discontinuities, inconsistencies, and disharmonies. This is because THE UNIVERSE IS SCIENTIFICALLY POSTULATED AS CONTINUOUS, CONSISTENT AND HARMONIOUS. In other words, the universe is postulated as One.

SUBSTANCE
Please see PM: Glossary.

SUPERNATURAL
Supernatural would be something outside of a person’s reality. People, in general, do not have much reality on SPIRIT or SOUL. They think it to be a supernatural phenomenon like GHOST and their thinking just stops there.

SUPPRESS
Origin: “to press down.” To suppress is to prevent the development, action, or expression of; restrain.

SURVIVAL
To survive is to continue to evolve while maintaining the oneness of continuity, consistency, and harmony. When “survive” becomes concerned with the continuation of a certain form only, it becomes a fixation. That fixation needs to be dissolved.

—T—

TAUTOLOGY
Tautology is a needless repetition of an idea, especially in words other than those of the immediate context, without imparting additional force or clearness, as in “widow woman.” Using new terminology that just regurgitates the old ideas does not get us to better understanding. We do not need new words. We must use simple language, making it richer, to explain the new concepts, or to explain the old concepts better.

THEORY
A theory boils down to a STARTING POSTULATE from which other postulates come about. And all these postulates are well-knitted together into a consistent whole.

THERAPIST
What helps a person is looking and not talking. Talking is there only to help the person where to look. If there is a technology that helps the person know where to look next then talking is no longer necessary, and the therapist is eliminated. A person then becomes his own therapist.

THERAPY
The purpose of all mental therapies should be to improve the person’s confront. Best recall occurs when you are simply being there and confronting. You make yourself relax, and just let the mind bring up the data. When certain memories do not come up immediately, they are usually associated with an area that is hard to confront. As you make a list of such areas and subject clear them, applying proper discipline, the memories associated with those areas will start to appear. Also see KHTK Glossary: Psychotherapy

Therapy is the treatment of disease or disorders, as by some remedial, rehabilitating, or curative process. We are looking primarily at therapies to do with the mind.

THINKING
Thinking starts when something does not make sense and it needs to be sorted out as in the case of an anomaly. Thinking is carried out as the activation of a series of associations among matrix elements in the mind. When thinking degenerates into a continual “figure-figure,” it has become an anomaly itself, and this condition needs to be resolved.

THOUGHT
Please see PM: Glossary.

TIME
Please see PM: Glossary.

TIME STAMP
Time stamp is the sense of successive occurrence coded in the perceptual elements.

TIME TRACK
This is a Scientology term. Please see Scientology Technical Dictionary. The idea of time track generally applies to reconstructed memories and the gaps among them due to unassimilated sensations.

TRAUMA
The sensations of trauma come in so fast that they are difficult to break down and assimilate in real time. Therefore, the real time perception of a trauma is very poor. It is perceived primarily as pain, and its impression is retained as a literal recording. They just have superficial connections with rest of the matrix. Injuries of the body may heal, but the mental trauma is not healed until its impression can be broken down and assimilated with later contemplation.

[From regular dictionary] Broad concept: “wound.” Definition: “A body wound or shock produced by sudden physical injury, as from violence or accident. An experience that produces psychological injury or pain.”

TRUTH
Please see PM: Glossary.

Origin: “fidelity.” Truth is seeing things as they are. Truth is seeing that the duality is formed out of the opposite ends of the same dimensional scale. The clearer is the perception the higher is the level of truth.

Origin: “fidelity.” Truth is seeing things as they are. Truth has to do with “consistency”. Truth is seeing that the two seemingly opposite items are two ends of the same dimensional scale. The clearer is the perception the higher is the level of truth.

—U—

UNASSIMILATED IMPRESSION
These impressions are made of compressed sensations, such as those from traumatic incidents. They do not disintegrate into perceptual elements, and cannot be assimilated in the mental matrix. Therefore, they are sensed rather than perceived. They embed themselves in the mental matrix. When activated, these impressions play out like hidden recordings influencing the thinking and behavior of the person. They create irrational thinking and cause sickness in the body. The solution lies in discovering and assimilating such impressions.

UNCONSCIOUS MIND
Freud postulated the unconscious mind, which affects a person’s emotions and behavior, but the person is not conscious of it. Unconsciousness stems from a lack of perception. A person cannot perceive the unconscious mind because it is made up of impressions that have not been assimilated. Such impressions arise from sensations that exist in the mind without disintegrating into perceptual elements.

Freud postulated the unconscious mind, which affects a person’s emotions and behavior, but the person is not conscious of its contents.  The “unconscious mind” seems to be the thought structure of the person’s viewpoint. The viewpoint can perceive everything external to it, but it cannot perceive its own thought structure.

UNCONSCIOUSNESS
Please see PM: Glossary.

Later, when the consciousness is restored, and one is operating normally, one does not become aware of the earlier accumulated impressions until they somehow get assimilated. Later assimilation of such impressions requires the right placement of attention; but the person does not know how to do that because he does not know what he does not know.

UNDERSTANDING
Understanding comes about when all anomalies related to a subject are resolved. In other words, the associations among the relevant elements related to that subject have become continuous, consistent and harmonious.

UNIVERSAL LAW
The universal law is the Law of Continuum, which manifests itself as continuity, harmony and consistency.

UNIVERSAL VIEWPOINT
The universal viewpoint is the same as the whole attention field.

UNIVERSE
Please see PM: Glossary.

A reality that includes everything—physical and metaphysical.
The UNIVERSE is made up of SUBSTANCE that is intrinsically consistent, harmonious and continuous. Beyond the universe is EMPTINESS, that is variously referred to as BRAHMAN in ancient Vedas, or as “noumenon” in the philosophy of Kant.

The universe is characterized by motion and awareness. This is also referred to as the “phenomenon” in the philosophy of Kant. The universe is the superset of everything that exists. All that we are aware of, know about, or speculate upon, is part of this universe.

The purpose of this universe is to evolve to greater consistency, harmony and continuity. Any disorder provides the seed for further evolution.

UNKNOWABLE
Please see PM: Glossary.

UNKNOWN
Unknown is something manifested but not known; whereas, unknowable is that which is not yet manifested.

UNSTACKING

  1. Unstacking of suppressed data occurs in a natural order when attention is put in an area. Any effort to change this order simply creates more suppression.
  2. Unassimilated impressions stack up in the mind waiting to be assimilated. They unstack only by themselves when not interfered with, under deep concentration and free association.

VEDIC RELIGIONS
Please see PM: Glossary.

VIEWPOINT
Please see PM: Glossary.

VIRTUE
A virtue is a power of acting, a form of ability. “By virtue and power I mean the same thing.” (Spinoza).

VISIO
The ability to see in facsimile form something one has seen earlier so that one sees it again in the same color, dimension scale, brightness and detail as it was originally viewed.

VOID
VOID is that which cannot be sensed. Absence of substance.

VULNERABILITY
But the incredibly ironic part of this is that while you may see this sharing as weakness, women see your emotional vulnerability (when done skillfully) as STRENGTH. It is so ironic — you reveal things that you think will cause people to judge you negatively, yet somehow they seem to like you more. (Youngblood)

—W—

WAVELENGTH
The wave-length as applied to energy is not really the distance between two adjacent crests as we imagine for the ripples of water. That visualization is limited to matter only. For energy, the wave-length is a measure of how expanded or contracted the field of energy is. As the consistency of energy increases its field condenses, and its wave-length becomes shorter. Thus, we may use wavelength as a measure of the consistency of substance. Even matter can be shown to have a wavelength, but it is extremely short. On the other hand, the wavelength of thought shall be larger than the largest wavelength of energy by many orders of magnitude.

WHY
The why is the major out-point that explains all other out-points related to a situation. It explains how come the situation is such a departure from the ideal scene. The real why opens the door to handling. The why must permit a closer approach to the ideal scene.

WILL
Will is the basic impulse to know and evolve. It postulates and reasons.

WISDOM
Please see Postulate Mechanics: Glossary.

WITHHOLD
A person WITHHOLDS himself from acting freely because he feels he does not have certain ability. Underlying that lack of confidence are regrets long forgotten. Underlying those regrets are forgotten overts. If a person is aware of a withhold, he can trace it back to some overt and then to some anomaly in his thinking. If he can recognize and resolve that anomaly, he can regain some of his abilities.

WORK
Work is the effort involved in getting things done. Heavy effort comes in only when there are barriers and inconsistencies to be resolved. Otherwise, not much effort is required when planning, coordination and activities go smoothly.

Work involves different activities in a society that are supposed to mesh together smoothly to carry forward the progress of that society. When things do not go smoothly, the idea of stress and enforcement gets associated with work.

—Z—

ZAZEN (pronounced “zah-zen,” each syllable accented equally)
Zazen is the principle discipline of Zen. Zazen is not “meditation”. In the broad sense zazen embraces more than just correct sitting. To enter fully into every action with total attention and clear awareness is no less zazen.

The prescription for accomplishing this was given by the Buddha himself in an early sutra: “In what is seen there must be just the seen; in what is heard there must be just the heard; in what is sensed (as smell, taste or touch) there must be just what is sensed; in what is thought there must be just the thought.”

ZEN
An abbreviation of the Japanese word zenna, which is a transliteration of the Sanskrit dhyana (ch’an or ch’anna in Chinese), i.e., the process of concentration and absorption by which the mind is tranquilized and brought to one-pointedness.

As a Mahayana Buddhist sect, Zen is a religion whose teachings and disciplines are directed toward Self-realization, that is to say, to the attainment of satori, which Shakyamuni Buddha himself experienced under the Bo tree after strenuous self-discipline. The Zen sect embraces the Soto, Rinzai, and Obaku sects.

ZERO
Zero would be the absence of something specific. For example. zero on a scale would represent the absence of values presented on that scale. See NULL.

ZERO AND INFINITY
Zero and infinity are best described relative to the scale of some value. Zero is the reference point on that scale that means “absence of that value.” Infinity is the undefined extreme of that scale in either direction. Zero and infinity exist only for the knowable. They do not exist for Unknowable.

A clear definition of what LRH means by ‘symbiotes’ in the fundamental axioms?

    • vinaire's avatar vinaire  On September 26, 2023 at 7:12 PM

      REGULAR DICTIONARY

SYMBIOTE: an organism living in symbiosis with another.
SYMBIOSIS: interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both.

      TECH DICTIONARY (LRH)

      1. the Dn meaning of symbiote is extended beyond the dictionary definition to mean “any or all life or energy forms which are mutually dependent for survival.” The atom depends on the universe, the universe on the atom. (DMSMH, p. 32)
2 . all entities and energies which aid survival. (EOS, p. 101)

      SUBJECT CLEARING

All things in the universe are connected to each other according to the Principle of Oneness. LRH effort to add survival to the broader definition is arbitrary.
