FACTOR # 1. Before the beginning was a Cause and the entire purpose of the Cause was the creation of effect.
This is what Western religions have always believed in. The Cause is just a “scientific” makeover for God.

KHTK (Knowing How to Know) drills all the way down to the concept of Unknowable as in
KHTK Factor # 1: Before the beginning was the Unknowable and the entire purpose of the Unknowable was to know itself.
This is what Eastern religions have always believed in. The Unknowable is just a “scientific” makeover for Brahman, Shiva or “neti, neti.”

The Engram
We are now looking at the Scientology concept of “Engram” from a deeper basis provided by Buddhism, Vedas or the Eastern thought, but in the modern scientific manner pioneered by Scientology.
The definition of engram has changed over time. On the surface, it appears to be a recording of a multi-layered drama that leads to both physical and mental aberrations. But underlying this confusing drama there are misconceptions. At the root of these misconceptions are anomalies that go deep into postulates. The time track is made of the multiple layers within the engram. The time track does not exist outside the scope of the engram. To fully handle an engram, one has to go deep into postulates and handle the anomalies there. These anomalies go deeper than just the conflicting goals, where Scientology stops. Origin of Engram: “Something written within.”
These “engrams” are the unassimilated impressions in the mind described in Hinduism as “samskara,” or described in Buddhism as “sankhara.”

Past Lives
In History of Man, Hubbard says, “However, it must be remarked that individual cells have ‘past lives’, the easiest manifestation of past lives to check.”
It is obvious that the nucleus of an individual cell contains DNA molecule, which contains the whole programming of the cell. This programming has come through the evolutionary line. It contains the record of all evolutionary changes. This is what makes up the blueprint of the cell.
This gives us a more precise definition of past life. The past life means “DNA programming.” All deep impressions from past life are part of this programming. Later impressions may not be as permanent as the earlier impressions that define the blueprint.
So, when we talk about “past life memories” of having been a WW II pilot or some other beingness, we are not talking about a deep impression of the level that defines our human shape, but a very surface level impression that can easily be resolved for the anomalies it contains.
As I understand, such past life impressions do not go back more than four or five generations because they start to dissipate by themselves. There are not that many engrams of this type. What influences us more are the thought-level misconceptions, and deeper anomalies at the level of postulates, that make the warp and woof of the DNA programming.
Those misconceptions and anomalies present the real challenge.
