Summary of Postulates (old)

These postulates are being developed from the subject clearing of Buddhism, Scientology and philosophy in general. This is a work in progress. Constructive criticism is welcome.

.

POSTULATE # 1: The universe includes everything whether physical, spiritual, real, imaginary, postulated or speculated.

COROLLARY: The universe includes all that we experience physically, mentally and spiritually.

.

POSTULATE # 2: The basic substance of the universe is energy, which is animated by an innate impulse.

COROLLARY: Everything physical, spiritual, real, imaginary, postulated or considered is made of energy. The innate impulse is evident in the propagation of light.

.

POSTULATE # 3: Energy condenses from thought to electromagnetic radiation to material objects.

COROLLARY: The innate impulse of energy condenses from considerations to flow to structure.

.

POSTULATE # 4: Space describes the extents of energy. “Empty space” is empty of matter but not empty of energy.

COROLLARY: Space contracts as the energy filling that space condenses.

COROLLARY: Different parts of the universe consist of spaces of different contractions.

.

POSTULATE # 5: Time describes the duration of energy. The state of absolute rest is defined by infinite duration at a location in space. Lesser durations have motion.

COROLLARY: The duration of the universe in infinite. It is simply there. It has neither beginning nor end.

COROLLARY: The duration of matter forms a very narrow band in which we observe all the motion of matter. Similarly, the duration of electromagnetic radiation forms another narrow band in which motion varies per the frequency of energy. The motion in this band, however, is identified only as the ‘speed of light’ because the differences are too small to be perceived.

.

POSTULATE # 6: The universe has inherent awareness, which provides a universal viewpoint.

DEFINITION: A universal viewpoint sees things as they are (AS-IS-NESS). This is the definition of objectivity.

.

POSTULATE # 7: Dualities—such as, physical-spiritual, static-dynamic, cause-effect—all describe different dimensions of the universe. A dimension describes dimension points, which are points to view.

DEFINITION: Each dimension may be presented as a continuous scale that extends to infinity in either direction.

DEFINITION: Each dimension point may be presented as a value on a dimension scale.

.

POSTULATE # 8: The spiritual-physical duality forms the two ends of the dimension of energy frequency.

DEFINITION: Spiritual is the energy of low frequency that expresses the essential characteristics of something.

DEFINITION: Physical is the energy of high frequency that expresses the outer form of something.

COROLLARY: The spiritual and physical aspects are integrated in all things, and not separate.

.

POSTULATE # 9: The static-dynamic duality forms the two ends of the dimension of energy expression.

DEFINITION: Static is the state of no motion, where energy is potential and not expressed.

DEFINITION: Dynamic is the state of varying motion, where energy is kinetic and being expressed.

COROLLARY: The universe continually oscillates from the static to dynamic and back.

.

POSTULATE # 10: The Cause-effect duality forms the two ends of the dimension of energy flow.

DEFINITION: Cause is the FROM point of energy flow.

DEFINITION: Effect is the TO point of energy flow.

COROLLARY: The innate impulse of energy flows in the direction from cause to effect.

.

POSTULATE # 11: From the universal viewpoint all dimensions of the universe naturally appear continuous, harmonious and consistent.

COROLLARY: The continuity, harmony and consistency of observations constitute the background of truth.

.

POSTULATE # 12: We may not know the absolute truth, but truth appears as continuity, harmony and consistency among observations.

COROLLARY: Truth is improved by the practice of AS-IS-NESS.
COROLLARY: Truth is worsened by the practice of ALTER-IS-NESS.
COROLLARY: Truth is denied by the practice of NOT-IS-NESS.

.

POSTULATE # 13: As a viewpoint individuates from the universal viewpoint, it becomes narrower. This results in gaps in awareness, which the viewpoint fills with self-generated considerations.

COROLLARY: Gaps in awareness point to missing truth.

COROLLARY: Self-generated considerations start to act as filters to hide the gaps.

.

POSTULATE # 14: As the viewpoint practices ALTER-IS-NESS, it falls away from the Knowingness of the universal viewpoint through Lookingness, Emotingness, Effortingness, Thinkingness, Symbolizingness, Eatingness, and Sexingness, down to Mystery.

COROLLARY: An individual is below Knowingness somewhere on the Know-to-Mystery scale.

.

POSTULATE # 15: The person, in practicing NOT-IS-NESS, brings about the persistence of unwanted existences, and so brings about unreality, which includes forgetfulness, unconsciousness, and other undesirable states.

.

POSTULATE # 16: The purpose of the universe is to evolve.

COROLLARY: The universe is evolving through all the inanimate and animate entities.

.

POSTULATE # 17: Energy of the universe has been evolving from radiation to matter, to minerals, to animated life, to reacting organisms, to thinking mammals, and to self-aware humans.

COROLLARY: Each element in the chain of evolution is surviving on an immediate basis, while it is evolving in the long range.

.

POSTULATE # 18: Entities evolve toward greater complexity, so do their control systems.

DEFINITION: The central control system of an organism is called its mind.

.

POSTULATE # 19: The mind of a human organism is a well-assimilated matrix of data elements that have large numbers of associations among themselves.

DEFINITION: A data element is an “atom” of thought, just like pixel is an “atom” of a picture. A concatenation of data elements produces a thought.

DEFINITION: A well-assimilated matrix means that none of the associations among data elements are missing.

.

POSTULATE # 20: All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts; it is made up of our thoughts.

COROLLARY: If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage.

COROLLARY: If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.
