Reference: A Non-mathematical Model of Quantum Mechanics
Here are some informed conjectures:
(1) We see SPACE as a background of matter and energy.
(2) Matter consists of inertia in the form of mass. It possesses the characteristic of “centeredness.”
(3) Energy (EM radiation) consists of inertia in the form of frequency. It possesses the characteristic of “spreadingness”.
(4) Inertia changes its characteristic from “centeredness” to “spreadingness” in the particle-wave region addressed by QM.
(5) “Spreadingness” seems to increase as the frequency decreases in the Energy (EM radiation) region.
(6) It seems that space would be the ultimate in “spreadingness.”
(7) Since absolutes are difficult to attain and it is easier to conceptualize in relative terms, we can think of space only in terms of vanishing frequency and inertia.
(8) If we plot frequency on a logarithmic scale as a power of two, we may think of space as a “disturbance” with a frequency 20 or less.
We may have a workable definition of space as above.

What we sense as dark matter and dark energy may just be inertia associated with electromagnetic spectrum at very low frequencies.
It is interesting to examine how physical space is approximated by mathematical space. If we consult the Wikipedia, we find the following:
A mathematical space is a set. A set is a collection of distinct objects. A mathematical object is a thing observed to exists as an idea, or abstraction.
Therefore, a mathematical space is a collection of distinct abstractions.
.
In modern mathematics, a point refers usually to an element of some set called a space.
So, a point is basically a distinct abstraction.
.
Per Wikipedia, “a point is a primitive notion upon which the geometry is built. Being a primitive notion means that a point cannot be defined in terms of previously defined objects.”
Again, per Wikipedia, “a primitive notion is an undefined concept. In particular, a primitive notion is not defined in terms of previously defined concepts, but is only motivated informally, usually by an appeal to intuition and everyday experience. In an axiomatic theory or other formal system, the role of a primitive notion is analogous to that of axiom. In axiomatic theories, the primitive notions are sometimes said to be “defined” by one or more axioms, but this can be misleading. Formal theories cannot dispense with primitive notions, under pain of infinite regress.”
Therefore, a point has no “spread” like space.
.
Mathematics is being used as the interface between physics and metaphysics.
.
Let me consolidate my thinking here as follows.
(1) Just like physical space, there is a metaphysical space.
(2) The physical space consists of matter and energy. Similarly, the metaphysical space consists of discrete ideas and fluid feelings.
(3) Matter and energy resist change to their state of motion. This property is called INERTIA.
(4) Similarly, ideas and feelings resist change to their state of awareness. This property is called FILTER.
(5) Inertia is “centered” in matter as mass; and it is “spread” in energy as frequency.
(6) Similarly, Filter is “centered” in ideas as ego; and it is “spread” in feelings as attention.
(7) When attention is fixated then it becomes part of the ego.
.
Mathematical space is the same as the metaphysical space. The mathematical objects are the discrete ideas (abstractions) in the metaphysical space.
Metaphysical objects possess discreteness of ideas (centeredness) at one end of the spectrum, and the fluidity of feelings (spreadingness) at the other end.
Physical space is the background made up of energy with vanishing frequency (spreading motion). Locations in physical space are defined by fundamental particles. A fundamental particle is a much centered motion.
Similarly, metaphysical space is a background made up of feeling with vanishing attention (spreading awareness). Locations in metaphysical space are defined by points. A point is a much centered awareness.
.
Corollary 1: A fundamental particle (centered motion) corresponds to a point (centered awareness).
Corollary 2: The physical space (spreading motion) corresponds to metaphysical space (spreading awareness).
Corollary 3: From physical space to a fundamental particle there is a spectrum of condensing motion.
Corollary 4: From metaphysical space to a point there is a spectrum of condensing awareness.
Corollary 5: A location is defined by a centered motion and awareness.
Corollary 6: Space is defined by a spreading motion and awareness.
