“EXISTENCE” – A Scientology Power Process

existence

The word EXISTENCE comes from Latin Latin ex(s)istere, to appear or emerge. It has the following definitions.

  1. The state or fact of existing; being.
  2. Continuance in being or life; life: a struggle for existence.
  3. Mode of existing: They were working for a better existence.
  4. All that exists: Existence shows a universal order.
  5. Something that exists; entity; being.

In Scientology, EXISTENCE is defined as,

  1. “An existing state or fact of being; life; living; continuance of being; and occurrence; specific manifestation.”

Scientology looks at existence to consist of matter and energy only. It doesn’t look at thought to be part of existence. Existence consists of anything that can be sensed. It is made up not only of matter, energy, but also of thought. There are mental objects that can be perceived just like physical objects.

Hubbard is looking at improving the person’s ability to be aware of the existence of the actual and the non-existence of the inactual. The process asks a person repeatedly to answer the following questions:

  1. What is?
  2. What isn’t?

All that exists is made up of matter, energy and thought. That which is in harmony is real. That which is in disharmony is unreal.

Oneness lies in the harmony of relations, consistency of realities, and continuity of dimensions. Oneness underlies the very concept of the Universe.

From this reality, the following process is recommended:

  1. Look at postulates that are in harmony.
  2. Look at postulates that are in disharmony.

That which is accepted as existing should all be in harmony. A dub-in is accepting that which is in disharmony.
