THE NATURE OF THOUGHT

Please refer to KNOWABLE AND UNKNOWABLE

In the previous essay it was noted that one may only speculate upon what is not manifested (unknowable). These speculations immediately become knowable as manifested thoughts. To know the unknowable, one seems to visualize the possibilities of what could be there.

In general, thought is imagination of what might be there when one lacks direct perception. It is the forming of mental images or concepts of what is not present to be sensed. Language is not necessary for thought to form. Language simply provides symbolic expression to thought.

Thought is visualization. The purpose of thought is to give form to the unknowable.

Thought seems to be spurred by the unknown. It starts as “wonder” at the possibilities that could be there. One then starts to believe in some of these “possibilities.” Thought then proceeds as “inspiration” to bring those possibilities about.

The knowable is formed through visualization or thought.

A thought is not NOTHING. A thought is SOMETHING. A thought is, therefore, knowable as ideas. Even the idea of a mystery is a manifested thought. It is known as “anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown.”

If you look at a thought in your mind, and follow it all the way back to its beginning, you may find imagination. The words that you visualize are actually symbols used for thoughts. When you look at what these words represent, you will find mental images.

Words and symbols are a condensation of visualization or thought.

Visualization or thought is at the core of creation. The activity of creation may be studied by observing how mental images come about.

The ability to create is the ability to visualize an original thought.

Thinking compares and associates existing thoughts and comes up with new thoughts that give further form to the unknown. As thinking evolves, the thoughts that are more consistent become certainties. Thus, thought is propelled forward by visualizations that are consistent. This is science. This is also art. Language may be completely bypassed in this process.

Thus, wisdom is generated. Thus, well-being, strength, wealth and order are generated. Thought becomes the bearer of all these things, or one may say that all these things result from the transformations of thoughts.

Reality is generated through an evolution of thought consistent with itself.

Thus, the secret of power, strength, persistence, survival, etc. lies in the consistency of what one imagines. This is the core of all that is sacred. This may be regarded as the essence of spirituality.

The way out of any problem, difficulty or situation then appears to be the recognition of inconsistencies and resolving them one by one. When no inconsistency remains, then no problem, difficulty or situation will remain either.

When a thought is consistent throughout it is like a laser beam that can penetrate anything.

Your essay is rich for discourse by my way of thinking V… (lol).

There are so many attractive points of entry it’s a bit of a challenge to narrow it down to one, for starters. So I’ll just start with this one paragraph toward the end of the essay (Your comments in regular print and my responses in CAPS):

“The ability to create is the ability to visualize an original thought”.

I WOULD SAY YES, BUT ONLY PARTIALLY SO. FOR ME A FULLER OR MORE COMPLETE OFFERING WOULD INCLUDE ‘THE EMOTIONAL ASPECT’ OF BEING AS BEING AN INTEGRAL ASPECT OR PART OF THE ABILITY TO EXPERIENCE ONES CREATIVE POWER VIA THOUGHT.

AS A PRACTICAL MATTER ‘THOUGHT IN THE ABSENCE OF EMOTION’ IS VOID OF ITS HIGHEST & GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR EXERCISING CREATIVE POWER (AS OPPOSED TO MERE RE-CONSTRUCTIVE POWER) PRECISELY BECAUSE IT IS EMOTION THAT INITIATES THE ENTRANCE FROM THE UNKNOWN UNMANIFEST UNCREATED BEING INTO THE KNOWN MANIFEST CREATED WORLD.

NOTWITHSTANDING NEAR COUNTLESS MISCONCEPTIONS AND HUGE MISUNDERSTANDINGS OF EMOTION AS IT RELATES TO CREATIVE POWER, THE SUBJECTIVE STRUCTURE OF THE HUMAN MIND MAKES CLEAR ITS SPIRITUAL SENIORITY (AND AUTHORITY).I THINK. lol

FOR EXAMPLE, CONTRARY TO CONVENTIONAL WISDOM:

THE QUALITY, NATURE & SUBSTANCE OF THOUGHT, OBSERVABLE AS IT CONSISTENTLY AND UNIFORMLY IS, IN THE FORM OF MENTAL IMAGES AND OR PICTURES WITH MENTAL SOUNDS AND OR WORDS, APPEARING IN ONE’S FIELD OF ‘UNCONDITIONED AWARENESS’ (I.E. THE ‘EVER PRESENT’ ‘THOUGHTLESSNESS’ OR ‘EMPTINESS’ OR ‘SILENCE AND STILLNESS’ THAT ‘IS’ THE BACKGROUND OF ALL SUBJECTIVELY AND OBJECTIVELY MANIFEST ACTIVITY) IS UNIVERSALLY AND UNILATERALLY PRE-DETERMINED BY THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF EMOTION.

SIMPLIFIED: THE QUALITY NATURE AND SUBSTANCE OF THOUGHT IS SUBJECT TO EMOTION FOR ITS BEING, IN TERMS OF CREATIVE POWER.

GRANTED SUCH A RATHER BOLD AND BRAZEN STATEMENT MAY WELL BEG FOR CLARIFICATION AND OR ELABORATION. WHICH I WOULD HAPPILY PROVIDE IF USEFUL.

Thinking compares and associates existing thoughts and comes up with new thoughts that give further form to the unknown.

I WOULD JUST ADD TO CLARIFY V: THE ‘THINKER’ COMPARES AND ASSOCIATES EXISTING THOUGHTS. NOT THE ‘THINKING’ ITSELF. …FOR ‘THINKING’ ITSELF IS A PROCESS, OR EVENT, OR AN ACTIVITY AND AS SUCH IS NOT, WAS NOT, AND CAN NOT BE CAUSATIVE OR CREATIVE IN ANY WAY.

NO MORE THAN ‘PAINTING’ AS AN ACT OF A PAINTER CAN BE CREDITED WITH BEING ‘CAUSATIVE OR CREATIVE’ OWING TO WHAT APPEARS ON THE CANVASS.

A SUBTLE POINT PERHAPS. BUT ONE THAT REEKS OF UNTOLD HAVOC IF LEFT UNEXPOSED OR UNEXPLORED BY THE AUTHOR OR BELIEVER OF IT (AS IT RELATES TO THOUGHT, EMOTION AND POWER).

WITNESS HUMAN-LANGUAGE IN REGARD TO CREATIVE-POWER AND THE PHRASE ‘CREATIVE-THINKING’ GETS TOP BILLING WITH ASTONISHING EASE AND REGULARITY. LOL.

As thinking evolves, the thoughts that are more consistent become certainties.

AGREED…PROVIDED….AS ‘THE THINKER’ EVOLVES, THOUGHTS THAT ARE MORE CONSISTENT BECOME CERTAINTIES OF THE THINKER..

Thus, thought is propelled forward by visualizations that are consistent. This is science. This is also art. Language may be completely bypassed in this process.

HERE AGAIN I AGREE WITH SOME RESERVATION, WHICH ‘FEELS’ TO ME LIKE A NEED FOR A GREATER CLARIFICATION. LOL.

WHEN YOU SAY ‘..thought is propelled forward by visualizations that are consistent….’ARE YOU REFERRING TO THOUGHT IN TERMS OF INCREASING UNDERSTANDING, WHICH LEADS TO INCREASING POWER?

AND BY CONSISTENT DO YOU MEAN ‘SATISFYING AS BEING TRUE’ AND OR ‘BELIEVABLE OR ACCEPTABLE?

OK V, THAT WAS A BIT OF A JOY. TO READ YOUR WORKS AND ENGAGE THEM (WITHIN AND WITHOUT).

I ADMIRE AND APPRECIATE THE BEING YOU ARE, AND CONSEQUENTLY YOUR PRESENTATION.

    LARRY

Thus, wisdom is generated. Thus, well-being, strength, wealth and order are generated. Thought becomes the bearer of all these things, or one may say that all these things result from the transformations of thoughts.

Thank you for your comments, Larry. I can see that you have put a lot of thoughts there. 🙂

You bring up the concept of a BEING or a person, which is not quite settled for me. “Who am I?” could be the most popular question of all times to which a lot of possible answers have been given. I have been struggling to write an essay on the nature of Being. Maybe your comments will help me round up that essay.

As a verb usage of “being,” a thought is being; an awareness of that thought is also being. We assume that there is some kind of entity that is thinking that thought and also becoming aware of that thought. We apply the noun usage of BEING for this entity. But when we try to describe that entity, we find it to be a speculation or thought placed there for the UNKNOWABLE.

So, the unsettled question for me is, “What is that BEING, which a person is identifying oneself with?” It is variously described as SOUL, ATMAN, etc. Until that is settled for me, I don’t think I can comment on the emotional aspects that you bring up.

The concept of “beingness” is synonymous with existence. Anything existing is being. Anything being is a manifestation. Any manifestation is the outcome of some sort of visualization. Any visualization is the core of thought.

So, to me, underlying any beingness is thought. Like elements and compounds, atoms and molecules, there possibly are elemental thoughts and compound thoughts. A person as a BEING is possibly a compound thought. It would be interesting to investigate the elements that form the structure of a BEING.

The next question that arises here is, “What is awareness; and how is awareness associated with beingness?”

This question is what I have been struggling with. I have been studying the concept of FIELD and MAGNETIC LINES OF FORCE as it was outlined by Michael Faraday, more than a century and a half ago. The concept of MAGNETIC POLE involves a dense concentration of the magnetic lines of force in a field.

I wonder if there is some kind of an analogy here in terms of a FIELD OF AWARENESS; and if a BEING is generated by a dense concentration of LINES OF AWARENESS. This is wild speculation, I know, but this has been occupying my mind lately.

As I said above, I have to fully settle the question about the NATURE OF BEING before I can really comment on what you have written.

    Thanks,
    Vinaire

“SIMPLIFIED: THE QUALITY NATURE AND SUBSTANCE OF THOUGHT IS SUBJECT TO EMOTION FOR ITS BEING, IN TERMS OF CREATIVE POWER.”

I am quoting the above conclusion reached by you, Larry. The only comment I have to make here is that the idea of “Quality” comes from thought, just as the idea of “Emotion.” These are ideas that are themselves “thought” at their core. These ideas are being, and the awareness of these ideas is part of their beingness. We are dealing with FRACTAL like structures at every step here.

My attention, therefore, is on further clarifying “beingness” and “awareness” because these two ideas seem to make up all other ideas, such as “quality,” “emotion,” etc. What I am curious about is how beingness and awareness are related to each other.

Awareness and beingness go hand in hand. There is no awareness if there is no beingness. There is no beingness if there is no awareness. That makes me wonder if there is some awareness that goes hand in hand with the manifestation of this universe. In other words, is there some broad awareness associated with the universe, and in which one may be able to tap into?

Does matter have awareness? What kind of awareness that is? Beingness can be objectified only through awareness. Can awareness itself be objectified? Now that is an interesting question.
