Reference: The Level of OT II

These are typical incidents that might come up while running GPMs.
The OT II items and incidents represent something deeper. They are not to be taken literally. LRH writes in “Foreign Language Caution”:
When a student on the course does not have English as his native tongue, or as language changes up through the years, or when the Clearing Course is translated into another language:
The greatest care must be used to establish the exact meaning or equivalent words. The most precise meaning is required and off shades will prevent erasure with much upset.
Such a student or translator must use a Meter to obtain the translated word and establish its correctness. It will of course be the most lasting read, which lasts after all other versions have ceased to read.
Ordinarily when you have the right equivalent, wrong versions will not read.
Sometimes when you have discarded the right one you have to regain it by finding which one reacts to “suppress” or “challenge.” Only the right version reacts to these.
It would be well to check all the key words of a GPM for the correct version of non-English words before attempting to actually run it.
One should rewrite the entire GPM or pattern in the native tongue one uses. Don’t attempt sight translation.
Ignore the (-) numbers as the first run.
If people ever cease to go Clear on these plots, realize English has changed and rewrite.
The implication of the above, when running OT II with Subject Clearing (without a Meter), is that one should not take such incidents literally. Instead look at what is triggered deep within your mind, which is symbolized by such pictures. You will sense it, and you will know it, even before you attempt to express it in words or symbols.

THE ARROW
This consists of two Targets with an arrow pointing into each, counter poised. The front target is white and the rear one is black.
The Targets with the arrows appear for 1/10th of a second, during which time it tilts one way and then the other. It’s terribly fast, so one made a picture to see afterwards what it was. Get the speed it did this. Get your own reaction to it. It’s just a sudden appearance and disappearance. It wobbled in and wobbled out.

DOUBLE ROD
This incident consists of a long shiny black rod moving in from left to right. Then somehow it is like two rods, or one rod with a split in the middle, the left one being white and revolving forward, the right one being black and revolving backward. Then they both disappear forward and upward. DURATION: 1/2 second – corrected to 1/8 second.
There is a tremendous feeling of EXCITEMENT attached to this incident. It has a sort of feeling attached to it as if one was being as if it was being squashed between the two revolving rods.

WOMAN
A “Woman figure” appeared before one. Nothing happened. It just appeared and remained a few hours. It sort of “got in one’s face”.

WHITE BLACK SPHERE
This is a sphere on a pole. The sphere and pole are Black in front. White in back. It’s based on the idea that a thetan “can’t think two thoughts at once”. It does not reverse.

HOT COLD
This is a pole with a split in it. The back split is hot, the front one is cold. Two temperatures. Duration is 1 1/8th seconds.

LAUGHTER – CALM
This takes place in a cave. It is 7 1/8ths of a second in duration. It has screams of laughter, very wild, and calm. Calm = frozen numbness.
It is a pole with a split in it. Laughter comes from the rear half and calm from the front half simultaneously. Then they reverse. It gives one a sensation of total disagreement. The trick is to conceive of both at the same time. This tends to knock one out.

DANCE MOB
The duration is 7/8ths of a second. There is a pole that pulls one in. One is caught on the pole. The actual incident is in connecting with this thing and trying to get off it.
The dancing comes after the actual incident, and consists of a mob dancing around one, chanting various things (a text). In running this, get the phrases that are chanted

I am a late comer to you blog, but I have been enjoying your posts very much. Having completed the clearing course and OT levels in the early 70’s, I have always wondered: How did LRH come up with these track incidents? Are they merely anecdotal, arrived at from his solo auditing and personal introspection? Did he then test and confirm his theories about whole track incidents and implants on early Scientologists? You may have addressed this question at some point in you blog, but I haven’t found it so far. Thanks again for sharing you insights and for the work you have put into your blog. Chad Holland
Chad, may I ask you about your experience on OT 2? It would be great if you could sum it up from the perspective of the Subject Clearing here.
My experience on OT II, as well the Clearing Course and other OT levels, was profound. When I realized that the focus of the Clearing Course and many of the OT levels was working to diffuse polarities, and blow charge on dichotomies, I was intrigued and ready to audit the processes. I thought I knew from exposure to Eastern thought that any work toward wholeness, inclusiveness, and oneness, was a good thing.
My end phenomena from these Scientology processes were a sense of peace, compassion, and expanded consciousness. However, even though i tried to imagine Hubbard’s whole track bank incidents as literal and my personal facsimiles, I couldn’t. But rather, I saw the LRH content as suggestive and archetypical. Still, I was willing to run each and every process and drill on the content that LRH presented. I ran most OT processes several times, and I realized that in many cases I might be “mocking up” incidents or pulling together fragments of memories, thoughts, and assumptions—from who knows where. I remember letting go of judgement, not caring whether I was actually contacting an historical Hubbard track event presented in the data or engaging in the power to create and then explode my own mocked up facsimiles and narratives. My only gauge of success was whether or not a particular OT exercise provided the end point of catharsis, insight, and or expanded consciousness.
Although Scientology processing was a boon for me, maintaining those early gains is most always a work in progress, but it is usually an enjoyable exercise. I thank LRH for triggering in me an incipient realization and joy of connectedness; a new dimension of understanding that I was something beyond the confines of my own skin. Ironically, Hubbard seemingly couldn’t give himself the gift of his own transformative teaching. I remember reading a confidential note on one of the higher OT levels. Paraphrasing Hubbard’s arcane message, it read something like this: The big lie is that We Are All One. This assumption seems contrary to my understanding that the intent of processing at advanced levels is to create a sense of inclusion and oneness with all of existence. So I was left with one more dichotomy. But what do I really know?

LRH came up with his theories by verifying his ideas using the E-meter. I commented on it briefly here.
Thank you! But with or without the e-meter, for Hubbard’s theories to be scientifically valid wouldn’t the time, place, form, and event of various bank phenomena have to be independently verified by others?
I think Hubbard’s theory of Reactive Bank needs to be revisited for further clarity. I have tried to do that here:
The bank phenomena consists of anomalies.
An anomaly is any violation of the principle of oneness, such as, discontinuity (missing data), inconsistency (contradictory data), or disharmony (arbitrary data).
Anomalies appear as facsimiles at the top layer of the mind. Underlying these facsimiles we have misconceptions, and underlying these misconceptions we have mis-postulates.
The facsimiles are pretty much resolved when the person reaches the level of CLEAR. At OT Levels, one is mainly dealing with misconceptions and mis-postulates.
These “OT incidents” seem to represent misconceptions and mis-postulates in a “dream-like” fashion. At this moment, I would doubt if they may appear in some standard form to all people. But LRH theorized it that way. The proof is in the pudding.

Following the logic of this master, In spite of attaining OT XX and handling all manner of anomolies and adversity, one would still be nobody special. 🙂
