KHTK Factor # 26

Reference: A Course on the Factors

KHTK Factor # 26: In this universe, the anomalies manifest themselves as suffering.

There is no permanent self that suffers. Therefore, the suffering actually exist in what is being viewed in this universe. This view consists of thoughts, emotions, sensations and feelings. As the view is resolved, so are the thoughts, emotions and effort in them.

These are the anomalies that make up the life of humans. The anomalies appear as pleasure and pain. They give rise to unreality, conflicts and all the aberrations that we see around us. It is what Buddha called birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow and defilements.

When you look closely, the thinking, sensations, affinity, reality and communication—all reduce to  what is being viewed. The key to life is fully experiencing and understanding what is there. It is the resolution of these anomalies in our mind that leads us to experience the nirvana of Buddhism. Therein lies the ultimate truth, awareness and bliss.

Scientology

Compare the above to the following factor in Scientology.

Scientology Factor # 26. The manifestations of pleasure and pain, of thought, emotion and effort, of thinking, of sensation, of affinity, reality, communication, of behaviour and being are thus derived and the riddles of our universe are apparently contained and answered herein.

All these things are manifestations. In other words, all these things are dimension points that are being viewed.

.

Logic

We tend to identify ourselves with what we are viewing.
