A New Slant on Theta-MEST Theory

Shiva Shakti

Reference:  THETA & MEST / KHTK Postulate M-1

THETA is best postulated as an activity-less energy (Shakti in Hinduism).

MEST is best postulated as a dormant field (Shiva in Hinduism).

Both of these postulates exist side by side. Each complements the other like two sides of the same coin. I know this understanding is different from how Hubbard formulated it in Scientology.

MEST activates THETA. THETA disturbs MEST.

The disturbance is manifested as consciousness. The outer form of consciousness is the electromagnetic field. Consciousness is the pattern embedded within the electromagnetic field.

Both postulates – THETA & MEST – are static.

But the resulting interaction is dynamic from which come about

  • Awareness – space

  • Desire – time

  • Consciousness – energy

  • Identity – matter

as a delusional person as you call me, I have a TOTAL REALITY OF THE ABOVE AND THEREFORE I express AGREEMENT!

    • vinaire  On May 8, 2014 at 12:51 PM

Agreement is not necessary for reality to be reality.

Reality comes from consistency of perceptions and not from agreement between thetans.

    • vinaire  On May 8, 2014 at 1:24 PM

Reality depends on the consistency of our perceptions. Suppose we see things burning around us but we don’t feel any heat, instead we feel a refreshing breeze and a waft of sweet fragrance in the air, then we know there is something fishy about it. It is unreal.

All physical perceptions must be consistent with each other for something to be real. Mental visualization must also be consistent with physical perceptions to be real.

Just because MEST activates THETA is not enough of a reason to consider MEST senior to THETA.

Similarly, just because THETA impinges on MEST is not enough of a reason to consider THETA senior to MEST.

Hubbard assumed arbitrarily that THETA is senior to MEST.

  • vinaire  On May 8, 2014 at 8:02 PM

Hubbard assumed affinity, reality and communication to be the components of theta. However, Affinity, reality and communication are not static, so they cannot form something that is static.

Affinity, reality and communication result from the interaction of Theta with Phi (Hubbard used MEST incorrectly).

Theta is simply a theoretical postulate of activity-less energy.

Hubbard arbitrarily separated affinity, reality, communication (ARC) from matter, energy, space and time (MEST); but this cannot be so because they are simply different aspects of the dynamics resulting from the interaction of THETA and PHI.

Artificial intelligence in a computer is based on electron patterns that move through the circuits of a computer.

Human intelligence is much finer. It seems to be based on electromagnetic waves flowing through the much finer circuits of the brain.

Human intelligence is based on patterns, the outer form of which are the electromagnetic waves themselves.

I revised it a little. See the blog entry.

Source is the consistency of perceptions and contemplation.

  • vinaire  On May 10, 2014 at 9:01 AM

The interaction of Theta with Phi results in electromagnetic waves.
“Awareness” is the pattern embedded in these electromagnetic waves.
“Understanding” is the degree of consistency among these patterns.

    • vinaire  On May 10, 2014 at 4:09 PM

At the fundamental level, “communication” is simply the perception; “reality” is the degree of consistency among the perceptions; and “affinity” is the degree of comfort (lack of tension) as one perceives.

Regaining of balance comes from sorting out any inconsistencies that have entered one’s system through perception. A person must be in balance within oneself before he can be in good balance with others.

It seems that “Black Magic” operates at the level of “electromagnetism” influencing the human intelligence itself.

I am using the word “electromagnetism” for the lack of a better word. By this word, I mean, the very pattern of awareness itself embedded at the electromagnetic level.

    • vinaire  On May 10, 2014 at 6:20 PM

Scientology may become useful if “Black Magic” elements are taken out of it.

Some of the “Black Magic” elements seem to be:
      (a) Using the via of e-meter, reactions on which are not seen by the preclear.
      (b) Mechanically repeating the auditing command
      (c) Forcing an answer even when there is none
      (d) Collection of intimate personal details
      (e) Making a showy and eleborate business out of auditing
      (f) Falsely exaggerating the price of auditing to make it seem valuable.

I am sure there are many more.

    From L. Kin

Hubbard defines affinity in terms of reaching. One reaches for something in order to have it close to one. Lack of affinity would be expressed in a withdraw. ‘Affinity is a phenomenon of space in that it expresses the willingness to occupy the same place as the thing which is loved or liked. The reverse of it would be antipathy (. . .) which would be the unwillingness to occupy the same space as or the unwillingness to approach something or someone”.

But true affinity would be the degree of comfort as one perceives. And this would be the degree to which one is inclusive of others and their viewpoints.

    • vinaire  On May 11, 2014 at 10:14 AM

Affinity is just there, it is not created or enforced on oneself. One is already being, it has nothing to do with whether one can assume the beingness of another or not. The latter would require the ability to be a good actor. Being a good actor has nothing to do with having high affinity.

To the degree one is comfortable within oneself, one is willing to look around.

The point is that affinity cannot be forced on oneself. It just is, and it comes from being free of inconsistencies in one’s viewpoint.

      • Chris Thompson  On May 11, 2014 at 10:52 PM

In the physical sense, affinity is distance, no more no less. And there probably will be found a physical reason for this proximity. Affinity in the emotional sense is the metaphorical representation of this proximity.

      • vinaire  On May 12, 2014 at 4:26 AM

In the physical sense affinity is attraction or repulsion that is a function of the distance per inverse square law.

It may also be looked upon as the degree of resonance or dissonance.

I have updated this post to lay out the components of THETA as ICAD (Identity, Consciousness, Awareness, and Desire) that parallel MEST (Matter, Energy, Space and Time).
