The Fixations
Reaching and withdrawing are the basic actions as attention moves from one thing to another. When the attention is unable to reach and withdraw, it is fixed on something. The attention is fixed because there is something not quite clear. Thus, a lack of differentiation or a mystery exists.
Normally, the mind breaks up the incoming sensation and assimilates it in the mental matrix to have a clear perception. But when the sensation cannot be assimilated fully, some fixation and mystery remains.
The fixations thus become part of beingness, and they even come to define that beingness. Such fixations then influence the perceptions, thinking and behavior of that organism, or individual. For example, fixations are commonly seen in the form of biases, prejudices, fixed ideas and in habitual, erratic, and insane behavior.
The fixations may be divided into three main categories:
- Engram
- Misjudgment
- Misconception
An Engram is a traumatic experience that involves pain and unconsciousness. These are few but each may take a lifetime to assimilate naturally. They can be assimilated much faster through deep contemplation and meditation.
A Misjudgment results in overt action that is irrational and does not make sense. It leads to embarrassment and even harm. Overts are followed by withholds, justifications and evil intentions. Together they form Goal-Problem-Mass (GPM). The GPMs are traced back to underlying misjudgments.
A Misconception is an erroneous idea, or a mistaken notion about something very basic, such as, “The sun goes around the earth.” These are well hidden considerations and require search and discovery. The assimilation of misconceptions has a wide ranging beneficial effect.
Misconceptions lie within misjudgments; and misjudgments lie within engrams. The most fixed item shall have the most significance. It needs to be addressed first. The key technique for that is the Listing Process or the Listing Procedure.

Misconception
Unfortunately, misconceptions are not perceived as fixations that underlie engrams and misjudgments.
