The Universe

The Universe consists of all that is knowable. It gets its meaning from the postulates that are in existence. The word, UNIVERSE, means “combined into one.” The oneness of universe means that it is continuous, consistent and harmonious. It provides a complete picture of all our combined experience. The reality of the universe depends on the oneness of all its forms.

The universe is formed by postulates. Thus, postulates are the primary substance of the universe categorized as thought. Thoughts evolve into higher categories of substance, which are radiation and matter. These categories of substance make a continuous spectrum. All forms in this universe contain these three categories of substance. The universe continues to evolve into increasingly complex forms that possess greater capabilities.

The universe has been described through our scriptures, philosophy and science.

.

Notes

Fundamental to the universe is the principle of Oneness. Consciousness is made up of postulates that manifest as primary existence. These postulates are constrained by oneness. Combinations of these postulates further evolve in their forms, once again compliant to the principle of oneness. Thus, come about thought, energy and matter.

Subject Clearing Logic

Please see The Book of Misconceptions

Processing is the application of a procedure to bring about an improvement in a person’s condition. In Subject Clearing, the processes have been obtained from the study of Vedic Hinduism, Buddhism, Psychoanalysis and Scientology.

In Subject Clearing, you can always go back to a previously applied process and run it again.

.

Process

This Subject Clearing process explores the subject of thought.

PREREQUISITE: Subject Clearing Mind

Look up these words in this sequence per the definitions given below.

LOGIC, PRINCIPLE OF ONENESS, ANOMALY, OUT-POINT, IDEAL SCENE, FIXED IDEA, PERSONAL IDEAL, OPERATIONAL, FACT, OPINION, STATISTICS, EXISTING SCENE, OBSERVATION, SITUATION ANALYSIS, SITUATION, DATA, WHY, HANDLING.

As you look up a definition, ask yourself,

“What crosses my mind as I look up this definition?”

Notice the internal reaction. Apply The 12 Aspects of Mindfulness to that reaction. If there is a disagreement, or you sense some anomaly, then address it with Subject Clearing Viewpoint.

You may consult dictionaries, Wikipedia, Textbooks, etc., to sort out the disagreement or anomaly present. Contemplate on these words until you are fully satisfied with your understanding.

Definitions

LOGIC
Origin: “Of speech or reason.” The continuity, consistency and harmony in the dimension of thought provides the sense of logic. Logic is a study of associations. Associations are logical when they can be assimilated into a consistent whole. The mind naturally follows logic unless interfered with. Logic may be reduced to a system or principles of reasoning. The ideal scene of Logic is represented by the Principle of Oneness.

PRINCIPLE OF ONENESS
Oneness does not imply sameness. Oneness means that all that is known is continuous, consistent and harmonious. There are dimensions in Oneness, where continuity exists. There are realities in Oneness, where consistency exists. There are relations in Oneness, where harmony exists. This Principle of Oneness underlies the very concept of the universe. It also underlies the Scientific method. This principle gives us the ideal scene for logic, and its violation gives us anomalies.

ANOMALY
An ANOMALY is any violation of the Principle of Oneness, such as, discontinuity (missing data), inconsistency (contradictory data), or disharmony (arbitrary data). An anomaly is always viewed from one’s viewpoint. Resolution of anomaly always expand’s the knowingness of one’s viewpoint.

OUT-POINT
An out-point is the Scientology version of an anomaly. It is defined as an illogical departure from the ideal scene. By comparing the existing scene with the ideal scene one easily sees the out-points. Hubbard categorizes these out-points as follows:

  1. Omit a fact.
  2. Change sequence of events.
  3. Drop out time.
  4. Add a falsehood.
  5. Alter importance.

IDEAL SCENE
In Scientology, the entire concept of an ideal scene for any activity is really a clean statement of its purpose. From the viewpoint of Subject Clearing, that purpose must not violate the Principle of Oneness. From that purpose one then constructs an ideal organization to carry out the activity.

FIXED IDEA
A fixed idea is an idea held in the mind that influences perception in a certain way. Prejudiced people are suffering mainly from a fixed idea. A fixed idea is not examined by the person holding it. It blocks the existence of any contrary observation. Fixed ideas are held as personal ideals. An example of a fixed idea is, “Life is always like that.”

PERSONAL IDEAL
This is an ideal held by a person which is in violation of the Principle of Oneness. Departure from such an ideal is an error and not an out-point.

OPERATIONAL
An activity to be operational must contain parts of its ideal scene. The fact that something is actually operating and solvent can outweigh the untested advantages of changing it.

FACT
A fact is something consistent with what is observable; but it is true only to the degree that it is free of anomalies.

OPINION
An opinion is a belief or judgment that may or may not be based on facts; but it is likely influenced by personal ideals.

STATISTICS
A statistic is a numerical measure of the effect caused by an activity. It provides the most direct judgment of the activity as it bypasses the influence of varying opinions. The statistic is considered positive When the activity contributes positively to survival.

EXISTING SCENE
The existing scene is the broad general scene on which a body of current data exists. It is what is really there—the people or personnel, their current state, the lines, the hats, the buildings, equipment, and the state of them, the tech in use and current news.

OBSERVATION
Application of logic starts with the observation of the existing scene. The ability to observe things as they are requires the absence of fixed ideas, personal ideals and assumptions.

SITUATION ANALYSIS
We obtain an analysis of the situation by analyzing all the data we have and assigning the outpoint data to the areas or parts. The area having the most outpoints is the target for correction. A situation analysis only indicates the area that has to be closely inspected and handled.

SITUATION
A situation is a major departure from the ideal scene. It is a not expected state of affairs. It is either very good or it is very bad.

DATA
Data are facts, graphs, statements, decisions, actions, descriptions which are supposedly true. These are observations leading to investigation. From this data one traces the string of out-points to finally get the WHY.

WHY
The why is the major out-point that explains all other out-points related to a situation. It explains how come the situation is such a departure from the ideal scene. The real why opens the door to handling. The why must permit a closer approach to the ideal scene.

HANDLING
Just as you proceed to the SITUATION—go big, when it comes to handling it usually occurs that reverse is true—go small!

CHAPTER 12: Final Round

Reference: DEATH: An Inside Story

“We can make this life the last one for you but we cannot make this the most wonderful one. That only you have to do. For that, you must do sadhana. You must promise me that.” ~ Sadhguru

12.1 One Drop Spirituality

You may have realized how to live ecstatically but It is not easy to teach that to others. But it may be possible to teach them how to die well. Most people on the planet die badly. When a being is disembodied, whether their experience of life becomes heavenly or hellish largely depends on how they die. Many people have their life worked out according to their dreams, but when they come to the last mile of their life, they are completely out of sorts. They are completely broken people and die in a bad way. They die badly because modern societies are neither aware nor have they taken care of this important aspect as to how to die well.

LIVING WELL
If you feel happy because you have more things and comforts compared to others, then that is not living well. Living well is if you are able to sit here in such a way that nothing matters; whether you have something or not, even whether there is food to eat or not, it does not matter to you. You are just fine. It is not that you are incapable of earning your food and other things, but that does not decide who you are right now. If you are like this, you are living well for sure. Wherever you sit, your experience of life will be beautiful.

DYING WELL
Helping people to die well does not mean assisting them to die as euthanasia supporters advocate. Helping people to die means helping people to manage the moment of passing from physicality to beyond, from being embodied to being disembodied, in utmost awareness and grace. There are many methods to cultivate this awareness in life so that when the moment of death comes, it will carry you through in grace.

HELPING TO DIE WELL
Sometimes you stretch a person’s life because he has not exhausted his Prarabdha Karma but has run out of steam; and sometimes he has exhausted his Prarabdha Karma but still has steam, so you have to release it. Both are needed in life. Someone being liberated for good is possible only when someone has run the full course of prarabdha.

KARMIC BREAK
There are many people who die of old age; they may have lived as utter fools, but in the final few days, suddenly, there is a new sense of wisdom within them, a new sense of awareness about them because their karma allotment has finished. Just the minor things are left and the next quota of karma has not come in yet, so that is a blessed period. They are in a certain space where there is a karmic break. Such people can be dissolved very easily. We can help them die consciously rather than in an unconscious state.

DYING OF DISEASE
But when they die of disease before the Prarabdha Karma is complete, if one tries to dissolve them, it is not going to work. All we can do for them is help them to die with awareness; then they will have a little enhanced life somewhere else.

12.2 Once You Made a Mistake of . . .

It is better you live well, not just aim towards dying well. If you live well, then you would be prepared to die well also. So, you should be willing to do those things that will help you live well. To live gracefully is something you have to earn.

MAYA
Maya means that the way you are existing right now, your perception and understanding of life, is illusory. The most essential part of this illusion is your idea of you as a being or an individual. It is illusory.

INDIVIDUAL
You exist as an individual because you are a piece of earth. The illusory idea is that you are something connected to earth because it implies you are something else.

BRAHMACHARYA
Brahmacharya means you are on the path of the Divine where the focus is on a universal process rather than on individuality.

SEPARATENESS
Two unconscious entities cannot come together, they will always remain two separate bubbles of their own, even though the atmospheric transfer between the two is happening. So this illusion that you are a separate entity is a big problem.

THE PROCESS OF BEING
The whole process of being with something means just this, that you did not fix your boundaries for a moment. If you can do it for a day—that you did not fix any boundaries, you are simply here—we will worship you because that which does not have boundaries is Divine. So not a whole day, if you have experienced this state without boundaries for even one moment, there will be no more rebirth for you.

CHAPTER 11: The Riddle of Reincarnation

Reference: DEATH: An Inside Story

“Right now, most people are not even able to handle what is happening in this life, so why do they want to dig into their previous lives? They don’t know how to handle the thoughts, emotions and relationships of this life. How will they handle the thoughts, emotions and relationships of many lives?” ~ Sadhguru

11.1 Taking on a New Body

After conception, there is just a bundle of cells. After forty to forty-eight days, the other life occupies the womb and this bundle of cells becomes a being. Maybe not yet a full person, but in many ways a person. If life has not entered the womb after forty-eight days of conception, then that is the sign of a phenomenal being arriving. Somewhere between eighty-four to ninety days, the engagement with the body for this life truly begins. There are millions of wombs and millions of beings looking for a body. They will settle down according to their attributes and tendencies. The chakras also start developing gradually in the womb. The Sahasrara Chakra generally is not developed for most at the time of birth. That slowly evolves thereafter.

11.2 The Arithmetic of Reincarnation

Life is just one. Numbers are only in your mind. The fundamental life force is not in terms of numbers. What we are referring to as the being is beyond the physical. Once there is no physical, there is no boundary. For that which has no boundary, there is no one or two or ten or million. So that is not the way to think at all. You must understand that by cloning, all that you are doing is just producing a human body. If it is hospitable enough, if all the ingredients are there, life will occupy it. It does not matter how you produced it.

11.3 Past-life Recollection in Children

Apparently, 70–80 per cent of the children below three to six months of age remember their past life because the memory screens between lifetimes are not set up yet. During this time, the memories of many lifetimes are playing within them in so many ways. Slowly, it consolidates. It is not necessary that a person be born the same gender as in their previous life. What gender or form you take is determined by the type of longing that you create. This is determined by your tendencies.

11.4 Exploring Past Lives

Whatever you call ‘past life’ is just unconscious layers of the mind in terms of memory. If you bring yourself to heightened levels of awareness, these unconscious layers of the mind, which are ruling you from within, could be broken down, could be dissolved. So if you go through a process where, with heightened levels of awareness, you bring unconscious layers of the mind into conscious states—not in terms of memory but in terms of energy and experience—you can work these things out and leave yourself completely free in a big way within yourself. In that context, it is relevant, but remembering something memory-wise is not of any consequence. It will only complicate and mess up your life.

11.5 Baby Hitler

Life can be very different existentially from what the society perceives. It is very much possible that a man who tortured everyone else lived well within himself, and a man who tried to do good to everyone tortured himself. How a person is within himself existentially is what counts. People have certain urges and desires. It is desire that becomes the karma. If a particular quality is very dominant in you, your karma will seek whatever kind of body and physical situation is best for you to fulfill that quality. Nature is not thinking in terms of punishment or reward. Depending on your tendencies, whatever is unfulfilled within you, you get the kind of body that is best suited to fulfill those tendencies. The moment you realize that you are the source of everything that is happening here, you cannot build any more karma. Now, you have to handle only what is stored up. There are no unfulfilled tendencies. There is only freedom.

11.6 Couples for Lifetimes

If the only way you can hold on to someone is by believing that you have been stuck together for many lifetimes, it is a horrible way to live. If you have been together for three lifetimes, maybe it is time to part! What happened yesterday is of no consequence, but now you are trying to create a consequence for what might have happened. This memory is crippling you. It is not allowing you to use your mind as an instrument of penetration, as an instrument to open up dimensions of life. If that is the only way you can relate to your husband or wife, what a pathetic way to relate to people! You should find value in the human being who is sitting in front of you for what he or she is now, not for what they were somewhere. What you are right now, what you have made out of your life right now is the most significant thing.

11.7 The Only Enduring Relationship

Whatever kind of relationship you form, whether it is emotional, psychological, social, financial or physical, fundamentally, it is concerned with the body. When the body drops, the relationship just evaporates. Only if a relationship transcends the physical limitations, then there is a possibility of this relationship extending beyond the limitations of the physical body. Generally, it is only the Master–disciple relationship which gets carried for lifetimes. This relationship is always energy-based. It is not emotion-based, it is not mind-based, nor is it body-based. It continues until the energy reaches dissolution. For the energy, there is no rebirth. Some Karmic relationships are energy-based too. In Nature, wherever there is emptiness, everything rushes there. This is so with karma also. When someone’s karmic bag is empty, all those other bags of karma which have been one way or the other connected to that for so many lifetimes tend to move towards that direction, knowingly or unknowingly. But unless there is some spiritual significance to these things, we do not pay attention to the past connections.

11.8 Life beyond a Thousand Moons

When one crosses 1008 full moons of time, which amounts to nearly eighty-two years of age, something wonderful starts happening within a person. The karmic grip on their life loosens up and they suddenly become very sweet. This process reaches a substantial level of maturity when one crosses eighty-four years of age, which is essentially the consequence of obliterating the illusion of life and death. Our very birth is rooted in the menstrual cycles of our mother, and that cycle is linked to the lunar cycles. With such concurrence we cannot aspire for further physical evolution. Attempts follow to evolve in ways other than physical. If we utilize the full moon and new moon situations with some understanding, we need not be swimming against the current. When the body has seen 1008 full moons, the energy body is not able to retain that structure very clearly. Now, it is very easy to liberate them.

11.9 Birth: Always a Beginning

For most people, their moment of Enlightenment and their moment of leaving the body is the same. An Enlightened being has certain qualities, which cannot be taken away. But when he is born, he is born like anyone. The qualities are still there, inherent in him. It will wait for a certain time and space where it can find expression. Depending on what type of work he intends to take up, accordingly, he will develop. So this process of when it should happen is Nature’s intelligence. Whatever happens naturally is always right, there is no question about it. Nature does not decide things with thoughts and emotion. It just decides things as per your tendencies. With thought, you can always make a mistake as it functions with very limited data. But Nature operates out of tendencies. So for an Enlightened being who is reborn, it depends on what type of work that person has as an objective for his life. Accordingly, at the right time, things will happen. Enlightenment is about going beyond individuality and becoming available to Universality.

11.10 The Rebirth of Lamas

One group of people who give a lot of importance to the reincarnation of Masters is the Tibetans. Tibetan lamas are basically tantriks who converted to Buddhism. Some people in that culture were definitely capable of consciously determining their reincarnation, and some Masters chose to come back over and over again. Over time, this prediction of reincarnation and identifying the reincarnation all became a compulsive culture.

11.11 My Past Lifetimes

There are any number of my lifetimes which are there in my memory but I pay attention only to that which has been spiritually significant in some way. The rest of it is of no consequence. I consider only my last four lifetimes significant. NOTE: Sadhguru relates these four lifetimes where his purpose became to consecrate a Dhyanalinga.

DHYANALINGA

  1. “Dhyana” in Sanskrit means meditation and “linga” means the form. Dhyanalinga is a profound meditative space that does not ascribe to any particular belief or faith, and requires no ritual, prayer or worship. It is a powerful and unique energy form, which is a doorway to enlightenment and spiritual liberation.
  2. Dhyanalinga is a powerful energy form consecrated by Sadhguru at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore. It is the highest manifestation of the Divine, it includes all aspects and manifestations of life. Dhyanalinga does not care whether you are living or dead. All it knows is to separate the chaff from the grain. It wants to separate what is you from what is not you. It does not care whether you have a body or not.
  3. Dhyanalinga represents the power, the liberation of another kind of science, the inner science, the yogic science through which you can become the master of your own destiny.

11.12 Will I Come Back

I am not coming back for sure, because my expiry date is long over. From the account books of humanity, I am gone a long time ago. This gives me much freedom, though. But stretching it one more time is not a proper thing to do. Even this time it happened only because I got tangled up with the project of the consecration of the Dhyanalinga. Otherwise, this one would not be. Some people who are a little more perceptive clearly see that I don’t even exist.

The Unknowable (old)

Please see The Unknowable

The universe is knowable because it can be sensed, but that does not mean that it is fully known. We find the universe mixed with what is not known or is unknowable.

.

Definition of UNKNOWABLE

The knowable is manifested but the unknowable is not. The beginning of this universe and its cause are unknowable. But we make postulates in an effort to make the unknowable manifest itself.

We experience the universe through our senses little at a time. We do not fully know the details of what we sense. So we give meaning to what we experience by assimilating it with the help of our postulates.

We do not know if we shall ever be able to gain enough experience to fully know the universe. Our postulates are valid only to the degree they help us assimilate our experience into a meaningful whole.

Religions are the repository of the earliest postulates that were made. The idea of God, and all qualities and attributes assigned to God are postulates only. Phrases, such as, ‘Uncaused Cause,’ and ‘Unmoved Mover’ have been used to describe God, but their self-contradiction only emphasizes the seeming impossibility of knowing God.

Science has evolved out of the religions. It deals with more detailed observations, and with postulates that are increasingly precise. But the scientific knowledge is yet to be sewn together into a single piece of cloth.

We consider ourselves to be the source of these postulates. But when we turn around and look at our beingness, we run into more things that we do not know.

It appears that the unknowable is always there accompanying the knowable, no matter how precisely we know.

.

Misconceptions

1. The key misconception is to think that we can know the Unknowable by making arbitrary postulates and then reasoning from those postulates. The postulates themselves must conform to oneness.

2. It is a misconception to think that the background of what is not known is knowable. That knowable is always mixed with the unknowable that needs to be postulated.

3. It is a misconception to think that the unknowable can be completely postulated, because any postulate is bounded by the unknowable.

.
