THE WHY IS GOD
Having forgotten to keep seed grain for the spring, the farmer starves the following year and when asked WHY he is starving says it is the Gods, that he has sinned or that he failed to make sacrifice. In short, unable to think, he says “The Why is God.”
This condition does not just affect primitives or backward people. All through the most modern organizations you can find “The WHY is God” in other forms.
By believing that it is the fault of other divisions or departments, a staff member does not look into his own scene. “The reason I cannot load the lumber is because the Personnel section will not find and hire people.” It does not seem to occur to this fellow that he is using a WHY which he can’t control so it is not a WHY for his area. It does not move the existing to the ideal scene. Thus it is not a WHY for him. Yet he will use it and go on nattering about it. And the lumber never gets loaded. The real WHY for him more likely would be, “I have no right to hire day laborers. I must obtain this right before my area breaks down totally,” or “My department posts are too specialized. I need to operate on all hands actions on peak loads.”
Survival is very closely tied to logic. If one finds he is sinking into apathy over his inability to get his job done, it is certain that he is operating on self-conceived wrong WHYs in areas that he cannot ever hope to control. And in living any life, most major points of decline can be traced to the person’s operating on whys that do not allow him to improve, his own scene.
Strength and Power in the individual consists of being logical enough to find WHYs he can use to advance his existing scene toward the ideal scene. The Why is NOT God. It lies with YOU and your ability to be logical.
God helps those who help themselves.

In Scientology and also other totalitarian organizations, this type of logic is persistently abused by management to blame staff, organization members, citizens, and such for “not doing their jobs,” or for “frying other fish” or for “working against the organization.” This is mean-spirited illogic.
“All-nighters” and other abusive orders are slung about that do not “move the Ideal Scene forward.” Potholes in the parking lot are blamed on lazy maintenance personnel. Legitimate operating expenses go unpaid when in fact routine maintenance programs cannot be carried out and checks cannot be written due to International Finance ripping off all the cash from the organization. The Disbursements Chief is fired for “allowing” bills from creditors to become overdue when in fact there is no cash in the checking account for the check writer to disburse.
Governments do this almost exclusively.
The abuse is both ways. The final proof is if the activity survives or not.
If a peaceful teacher were to give instructions like this THE WHY IS GOD, it would have a certain helpful and knowledgeable flavor and slant.
In my opinion, Hubbard’s slant is harsh and sets up an entire theater of abuse, then justifications for a totalitarian never being wrong. I only ever heard Hubbard apologize one time. It was on a video tape of an early congress and I think that I remember he was saying that he had “…produced my first Clear.” His apology was in the form of a joke because his high crimes and treason were so very insignificant compared to his gargantuan accomplish for the good of Man.
On the other hand, I never met or spoke with Hubbard during this life but you have. You spent time on the Apollo with him. Possibly you will write and shed light on, as I call it, the slant and tone of Hubbard as he writes tropes like this one.
I am reasonably sure that you do not realize how very much more powerful and interesting are the things that you write when you begin with the personal pronoun, “I,” and recount your experiences and understandings of life as you did in your personal account of coming to America and becoming involved in Dianetics and Scientology. I found that story of you riveting.
Scientology today is propped up by American tax exemption for religion and operates a grift. Not so large a grift as say the current grift of government, but impressively large by everyday ordinary criminal standards.

I accept the philosophy underlying DS 22 as a philosophy for the individual to apply to oneself on his own self-determinism, and not for him to enforce it on others.
So, it boils down to the understanding and correct use of Data Series. People with harmful intentions will twist it and misapply it to the detriment of others.
Thank you. That’s a good way of saying it. I certainly subscribe to this in my personal life. I even suggest this to others in context. However, this idea is a strong one that definitely requires that a person see the usefulness of this philosophy for themselves. Enforcement quickly results in abuse and THAT is something that your comment has made clearer to me.
Tautology simply means AS-ISNESS.
For me, a tautology is an empty statement because it is composed in a way that makes it logically true whether or not it is factually true. An example of this can be “It is what it is.”
The reason that I coined the term “Tautological Universe,” is because deep dives into understanding our universe seem to feed us every more tautological explanations. It seems to defy every tool and grinding labor to embrace “WHAT IT IS.” This is why through the years of our friendship, you will have noticed that I balk – sometimes more than other times – your own declaration that we should endeavor to “…see things as they are, not as they seem (or appear) to be.” I balk at the color of these statements because they seem to declare that we can know objective truth. I only agree with this in degrees from, “somewhat” at the most, to not at all,” at the least.
Richard Feynman is quoted as saying something like, “If you think you understand this (quantum mechanics), I can assure you don’t.” I believe that the reason for his stating this is that, at the deepest dive of research, the substance of this universe evades us and becomes blurry even if not entirely invisible. These deep dive pilgrimages to the basics of objective truth seem to only offer us tautologies. These are facts based upon the research of the relative order of magnitude and frame of reference in which I live.
My Tautological Universe makes me doubt reality as an obvious possible solution to my lifelong Quixotic quest.
Tautology as “It is what it is.” goes beyond logic as I have explained below. A tautology needs to be seen relative to the “cause and effect” principle.
As far as reality goes, here are my definitions:
REALITY
Reality is IS-NESS. It is made up of natural laws, facts and opinions.
TRUTH
Truth is the integrity (continuity, consistency, and harmony) of reality. The truth is determined by an absence of anomalies. To the degree anomalies are present, some truth is missing.
ANOMALY
An anomaly is any violation of the integrity of reality, such as, discontinuity (missing data), inconsistency (contradictory data), or disharmony (arbitrary data). An anomaly flags the presence of an impression on the mind, which is hidden under an assumption. When one spots the assumption, and becomes aware of the underlying impression, the anomaly resolves with a realization.
It is my belief that we can know objective truths about elements of our lives at and within the order of magnitude (frame of reference) in which we live but not at the scales in which we do not participate such as the galactic and sub-microscopic levels that we chase. Example: We can know how to walk, talk, ride a bike, fix a car, finish concrete, build a house, and so forth. This is the scale in which we actually exist.
For me, the objective truth, ultimately, is the tautology “It is what it is.”
We may arrive at the objective truth by direct perception in the frame of reference in which we live. But we may arrive at the objective truth in other frames of reference by adding proper data analysis to direct perception.
Data analysis may not always be easy. It may take ingenious methods and long periods of observation to arrive at objective truth in other frames of references.

In my opinion, tautology is the entirety of “It is what it is.”
This is as-is-ness because with as-isness we get rid of all alterations and denials, and end up with pure truth. Pure truth is “It is what it is.”
Reality is IS-NESS. It is made up of natural laws, facts and opinions. These things can be associated with each other. If there is any cause-effect relationship, it is limited in nature and is not absolute. Beyond “Cause-effect” lies “It is what it is.” This is tautology. It is the senior most level. So, your intuition has always been correct.
Your assertion of tautology had puzzled me at first. But now I understand it. 🙂

We may arrive at the tautology by direct perception in the frame of reference in which we live. It may take some additional analysis to arrive at it in another frame of reference that differs by many orders of magnitude.
