Perception: the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses.
I have added PERCEPTION to the glossary above.
I have doodled on your graphic. They are not criticisms, corrections, nor completions. They are things I considered when I looked at your work. Maybe there is something there to talk about? . . . but I do not remember how to, or if I can upload the doodled photo.
I will email it to you and you can decide if it is worth uploading. 🙂
I feel blocked by a lack of understanding of, “What is space?”
Chris, I am curious what you have doodled. You may upload it here, or in the mindfulness forum, or email it to me. Either option is fine.
About space, I have tried to cover it in the POSTULATE # 11. Let me know what you think of it.
I’ve emailed the doodle a week ago. Did you receive it? I would “upload” it here but do not know how. I do not see an upload link, nor does copying the .jpg file and pasting it here work. I do not have editing privilege here as I would on my own wordpress site.
No, that email did not appear in my inbox. It may have gone into “junk” and got deleted. Can you send it through Messenger?
By the way, I am engaging Geir on a Free Will discussion. https://isene.org/2018/09/Podcast-FreeWill.html
Our human metaphysics abstractions do not particularly seem to divide from our observations of the objective. Maybe there’s just one balloon, not two.
My doodling is sent over on FB messenger.
My doodle was at the spur of the moment. To me, a person’s VIEWPOINT is his “personal attention field,” and it is attached to the body-mind system. The body-mind-viewpoint systems are discrete and they reside in the continuum of the ATTENTION FIELD. The ATTENTION FIELD represents the universal viewpoint.
To me, the “external” is physics balloon, and the “internal” is the metaphysics balloon. The two are connected through the interface of the body. If there is no body, then the metaphysics balloon is also not there
The rest of your additions and corrections to the doodling are fine.
I like to view reality not as agreement but as the “integrated awareness of all life”. And the basis of this integration is consistency, harmony and continuity.
The problem with the idea of FREE WILL is that it is associated with the idea of SELF. If self is an illusion than free will is an illusion too.
A SELF is essentially an ever expanding VIEWPOINT. The narrowest viewpoint is individuality, which expands as family, group, society, culture, race, mankind, life and ultimately the universe. At the level of the universe, self encompasses everything, and the free will simply becomes the nexus of natural laws.
“. . . and the free will simply becomes the nexus of natural laws.”
I can see how that could be.
. . . by which, I mean there is nothing “free” about it. Regardless of the associations of free will, the will as such is firmly dovetailed into the universe. There is no meal that is not preceded by a hunger and as such there is no effect without the preceding cause. There seems not to be a “will” without a reason, and that reason can be said to be a “cause.”
I am challenge the entire cause-effect idea especially when attempts to abstract it into the “beginning of this” and the “ending of that.”
I believe that the major assumptions of the syllogism of free will are flawed and make the entire concept fallacious.
That is how Einstein thought too. Cause-effect do not necessarily exist in a linear chain. It could be a very complex network. Hubbard made the same mistake in considering engram and memory chains to be linear.
